Classic Antarctica: Whale Watching

While sailing through the famous Drake Passage, relax, getting used to the rhythm of the ocean.

Here you can expect roaring winds and swirling sea waters. Albatrosses will accompany your vessel.

As you pass through the Antarctic convergence zone, you will observe an interesting phenomenon: the number of seabirds around will increase dramatically to several thousand.

Lecturers from the expedition team will tell you about the reasons for this and other wonders of Antarctica.

On the way to the Antarctic Peninsula, every turn is a new adventure. The pack ice is getting thicker, which means you are approaching the white Antarctic desert.

Here you can watch seals sunbathing on the floating ice and humpback whales emerging from the cold waters of the Southern Ocean.

According to the expedition plan, from day 4 to 7 you will explore the Antarctic Peninsula. The distribution of the program by day is conditional and gives a general idea of what you can see and visit during these days.

During the cruise, you will have the opportunity to visit the following places:

• Danko Island. Subantarctic penguins (Gentoo Penguin) live here. You will disembark to get to know these cute birds better. Weddell seals and crab-eating seals will be found next to the penguins.
• Neko Harbor. Giant icebergs, majestic mountain peaks and endless snowy expanses are a fabulous landscape that will appear to your eyes in this stunning harbor.
• Paradise Bay. This place is known for its stunning views of mountains, glaciers and icebergs. Here you will set foot on the land of the continent of Antarctica for the first time. From the ship you will see the Argentine Brown scientific station, and then, under the guidance of experienced guides, you will go in search of crab-eating seals and Minke whales.
• Port Lockroy, Gaudier Island. During the Second World War, the British built an information interception point here, which later became a scientific station. Now there is a museum, a souvenir shop and even a branch of the British Postal Service, from where you can send a postcard to friends or to your home. Ghent penguins roam around the station, which are happy to pose for tourists against the background of the British flag.

Try to make out the tail of a whale or seals sleeping on an ice floe.

The flexible route allows you to make the best use of weather and ice conditions: in the spirit of the great expeditions of the past, the captain and the expedition leader will choose the optimal course every day.

On your expedition trip, you will have a unique opportunity to land on the Zodiac in remote and unexplored bays, visit penguin colonies and scientific stations, or cruise among colorful icebergs shimmering in the sun.

You will be able to test yourself in kayaking, stay overnight in a tent on the coast of Antarctica, climb to the top of several Antarctic mountains, take a snowshoe walk and participate in photography workshops.

The volcanic South Shetland Islands are windswept and often shrouded in fog, but they offer exquisite pleasures.: There is a diverse flora (mosses, lichens, flowering grasses) and a considerable number of fauna (Gentoo penguins, hissing penguins, southern giant petrels).

On Deception Island, the ship passes through the "Bellows of Neptune" and plunges into a flooded caldera. Here you will find an abandoned whaling station and thousands of Cape petrels, as well as kelp, brown and South Polar skuas and Antarctic terns.

In this fascinating and desolate volcanic landscape, you can make a great hike.

Alternatively, you can enjoy outdoor activities near Half Moon Island. Here, hissing penguins and Weddell seals often go to the beach near the Camara Base, an Argentine scientific research station.

The ship is heading for Ushuaia.

But the adventures don't end there: you can continue watching whales and seabirds.

The events organized by the expedition team on board will help you relive the entire journey.

You will also have plenty of time to share your impressions and photos with your new friends.

On the last evening, you will have a farewell captain's dinner.

Your journey ends in the morning.

After breakfast, you will disembark and take a group transfer to the airport.
