Itinerary

Day 1 - Sightseeing tour of Irkutsk. Listvyanka. The Baikal Museum. Fish market
Welcome to Irkutsk!
Meeting with the sign.
Group gathering:
airport – 8-8:30 inside the building at the exit to the city (opposite the baggage claim);
railway station – 9-9:30 (entrance "suburban ticket offices", inside the building at the exit to the city).
After gathering the group, we go to breakfast.
Our trip to Irkutsk begins with a sightseeing tour.
We will introduce you to the history of our city.
After exploring the Siberian city, the group goes to Listvyanka village.
On the way, we will visit the ethnographic open-air museum complex "Taltsy".
The museum recreates the cultural and everyday life of the Siberian village of the 17th and 19th centuries.
Here you will see the estates of wealthy peasants, the Spasskaya Tower of the Ilimsky ostrog, the Parish Council, the parish school, the temple of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God of the 17th century.
What is especially interesting is that each courtyard of the museum has its own exposition, you can go into each house and plunge into the atmosphere of those times.
After visiting the museum, we continue on our way to Listvyanka.
First, we will be greeted by a Shaman-a stone covered with myths and legends.
Many people know the legend of the love of Angara and Yenisei.
After visiting the Baikal Museum, you will meet the inhabitants of the lake here.
Seals, hamaruses, gobies, sponges – these are the amazing organisms that live in Lake Baikal.
A walk through Listvyanka with a visit to the fish market and souvenir stalls.

Day 2 - Olkhon
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast, we will go to the island of Olkhon (250 km to the Ferry of Olkhon Island and further along the island to the village Khuzhir is 39 km away. Attention: our bus can go directly to the island by ferry, or by reaching the ferry, and after the ferry on the island boarding the local UAZ transport).
During the trip, the landscape outside the window will change from urban to endless steppes, green taiga and finally, the rocky shores of Lake Baikal.
At lunch (on your own in a cafe during a stop), you can appreciate local cuisine for the first time (poses, boohler).

Walking tour to Cape Burkhan.
Burkhan is an extraordinary rock that has been revered by the indigenous population of the island since ancient times.
Burkhan's story has attracted the attention of not only domestic but also foreign archaeologists.
In the 70s of the last century, a joint Soviet-American expedition worked here, one of the results of which was the hypothesis of the Asian origin of the indigenous population of North America.
Many archaeological finds and discoveries have also been made in this area.
North of Cape Burkhan there is a magnificent sandy beach of the Sarai Bay, which stretches for 3 km between Cape Burkhan and the village. The Harans.

Day 3 - Cape Khoboy
Breakfast.
A full-day excursion to Cape Khoboy.
Khoboy is a sacred place, a place of strength and powerful energy, the northernmost cape on the island of Olkhon.
Along the way we will see the Sandy Tract – a miniature of the famous Sandy Bay.
Constant winds blowing from the sea carry sand from the shore and form sand deposits, which are called "Moving Sands".
At the edge of the forest, you can find stilted trees that have risen above the sand by 30-40 cm on their roots.
Their height is much lower than that of the famous stilt trees in the Sandy Bay.
Sagan-Khushun – "white cape" is an extremely picturesque rocky cape with a length of about 1 km.
This place stands out among the monotonous coast with spectacular pyramid-shaped rocks, known to the local population as the "Three Brothers", the legend of which you will learn during the tour.
After a walking tour from the parking lot to Cape Hoboy, we will have a picnic.
And then we will visit another, no less beautiful place – Cape Shunte.
Shunte-Levy is located in the northeastern part of Olkhon Island and is famous for its bright colors: marble veins and bald patches of red lichen.
An excellent view of Lake Baikal comes off from the observation deck of the cape, a high red rock.
The local population believes that Shunte-Levy helps couples solve the problem of infertility.
In ancient times, if a couple could not give birth to a child for a long time, they were put in a yurt on the cape, after that the problems usually disappeared.
There is no such tradition now, but for couples who want children, it is considered a good omen to climb one of the rocks (if you want a boy, on the left side of the rock, a girl, on the right).

We recommend that you pay attention to the following excursions:

Water excursion to Ogoy Island (duration about 3 hours, estimated cost from 4000 rubles / person, check the exact cost with the guide).

The Buddhist stupa, erected on Ogoy Island in the summer of 2005, is officially referred to as the Stupa of Enlightenment, the Conquest of demons, containing a statue of a Female form, the mother of all Buddhas.

In other words, this stupa belongs to the type of stupa in which various Buddhist relics are embedded.

Ogoy Island, stretching a narrow winding strip of land from south to north for 6 km, strongly resembles the dancing goddess Dikanya from the air with outstretched arms, facing north.

The stupa, built at the highest point of the island (512 m), at an altitude of 60 meters above the level of Lake Baikal, turned out to be located just in the area of the island's heart.

Volunteers from different places took part in the construction of the stupa: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Minsk, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, New York, London, Lisbon.

Everything necessary for the construction was transferred by boats and then manually lifted to the top, and the heaviest loads were transported by helicopters.

The stupa project was developed by an Irkutsk architect.

The construction was supervised by a lama from Bhutan.

Excursion to the Southern part of Olkhon Island (duration about 6-7 hours, estimated cost from 2500 rubles / person, check the exact cost with the guide).

During this tour, you will drive through the Southern part of the island with stops at the most important and picturesque places.

The first stop will be an observation deck, not far from the village. Khuzhir - where you will see a panorama of the village, the strait of the Small Sea and the smooth curves of the Primorsky ridge.

Next, we will drive to the village of Yalga to Khankhoy Lake, which is separated by a sand spit from Lake Baikal itself.

It looks spectacular, and the water warms up very well here and perhaps this is the warmest place for swimming on Olkhon.

After that, the route will lie in the direction of cape "Mare's Head".

This is a picturesque cape of the southern extremity of the island.

It is believed that it looks like the profile of a horse's head and is a natural monument.

We will visit several bays within the cape, and then arrive at the Trident observation deck.

There is a view of the Small Sea, its uninhabited islands, and the mainland.

A picnic lunch will be organized during the tour.

With fish soup and tea on Siberian herbs.

Return to Khuzhir.
