The secret Baikal ice. Extended program with hivus

After breakfast, full of energy and well insulated, we set off on our journey.

Today we will have a full-day excursion along the island of Olkhon to the very north of Cape Khoboy.  

In one day, we will see all the most important sights of the island.

Our route will be as follows:

First, we will make a stop at Cape Mare's Head, which, as you probably already understood by the name, has very interesting legends associated with it.

Here, we can admire the white and blue splashes on the rocks - the Baikal waves frozen on the rocks.

And after driving a little further, we will go with you into the grottoes that have been washed by the water, and which in summer you just can't get close to.

The grottoes are filled with statues (splashes, icicles), which hang down like stalagmites and emit an incredibly delicate blue-white color.

Next, we will make a longer stop at Cape Burkhan. 

This cape is one of the most energetically powerful places of Lake Baikal and one of the 9 shrines of Asia. 

Cape Burkhan, or as the locals also call it – Shamanka Rock – has a powerful energy, and since ancient times this place has been treated with reverence. 

Our way lies further to the north of the island, to the destination of our trip – Cape Khoboy.

On the way to Cape Khoboy, we will make several more stops at the grottoes and at the picturesque Sagan-Khushun rock ("Three Brothers").

Upon arrival in the north of Olkhon and walking around the Oboe, we will be invited to a real campfire lunch in the open air.

We return back at sunset, admiring the delicate shades of the setting sun.

Excursion to Ogoy Island.

The Buddhist stupa, erected on Ogoy Island in the summer of 2005, is officially referred to as the Stupa of Enlightenment.

The construction was led by a lama from Bhutan. 

Buddhists believe that the more often they make a tour of holy places, the more likely it is that a good wish will be heard by the gods and will soon come true.

More recently, Ogoy Island has become famous thanks to the "Dragon" rock. 

This rock is the most recognizable on winter Lake Baikal. 

We are returning to the base.  

Lunch.

After lunch, we set off across the Tazheran steppes to the Great Baikal.

First, let's look at it from a height: the vast icy expanses.

We're going out on the ice.

We will walk along the steep cliffs, here in the caves we will also meet the statues you already know.

Going a little deeper – and the depth of Lake Baikal in these places is already measured in hundreds of meters, we will drill through the ice. 

For the bravest and strongest, you will be given the opportunity to drill the ice yourself.

Immediately, after we try the ice and at the same time measure the thickness (and believe me it will be at least a meter), we will fill mugs and drink the fresh and crystal clear water of Lake Baikal.

And then we will go to study and take pictures with another interesting phenomenon – hummocks. 

After all the activities, a samovar will already be prepared for us right on the ice of Lake Baikal – we will warm up with hot tea with Baikal herbs, taste Baikal snacks and try the iciest cocktail.

And today we are going on another ice adventure, but already on an unusual transport – we will have an hour-long walk on Khivus along Lake Baikal!

Hivus is a hovercraft, which is the safest means of moving on the ice, especially in autumn and spring. 

At this time of the year, we will ride on the ice on Khivus with a breeze through the Olkhonsky Gate Strait, to where Lake Baikal is boundless, to thank Baikal once again for its hospitality and amazing emotions! 

A glass of sparkling wine in honor of the completion of our program on Lake Baikal.

12:00 room check-out and transfer to Irkutsk

Arrival in Irkutsk.

Accommodation in a hotel in the city center.

In the evening, you can stroll through the historical center and along the beautiful Angara embankment.
