Day 2 - Gamsutl, Chokh and tesnina / waterfall, Matlas and Khunzakh
The program includes tour dates from April 8 to October 7, 2026.
Gamsutl — Chokh — Karadakh gorge.
Duration: 10 hours, 330 km.
Breakfast at 07:00. The program starts at 07:30.
Transfer to Gunibsky district. Gamsutl village, which is often called the ghost village or Dagestan Machu Picchu, is located at an altitude of 1,700 m. There is no road here, so you have to walk along the canyon for just over an hour. But it's worth it!
Gamsutl is considered one of the most ancient settlements in Dagestan, and although the village has been abandoned by people relatively recently, it seems that time has stopped here and everything around it looks more like the scenery for a movie.
On the opposite slope of the ridge is the mountainous village of Chokh, the birthplace of many prominent Dagestani scientists, educators and military aristocracy. The houses with colorful roofs are attached to each other, like floors in a high-rise building, with a mountain serving as one of the walls.
The Karadakh Gorge, which is called the "Gate of Wonders", is an extraordinary creation of nature. The height of the cliffs reaches 170 meters at the highest point, which creates the impression of an enclosed space. Steep slopes surround and squeeze from all sides, every step and sound echoes.

Transfer to Hunzakh. There are many interesting places in Dagestan, and one of them is the village of Khunzakh, the ancient capital of Tatarstan, the birthplace of warriors and poets. There are many springs in the village and stone-paved streets have been preserved, there are several ancient cemeteries where famous Islamic scholars are buried.
We will see one of the highest waterfalls not only in mountainous Dagestan, but also in the entire territory of the North Caucasus — the Tobot waterfall. The waterfall adorns the Khunzakh plateau.
Next to the village of Khunzakh stretches the Tsolotlinsky canyon, into which three rivers fall in the form of waterfalls. There is also an observation deck.

Day 3 - Lun Ekranoplan, Derbent, Naryn-kala Citadel

The program of the day starts at 08:00: transfer to Southern Dagestan — Lun ekranoplan.
Sightseeing tour of Derbent: Dagh Bars fortress wall, Juma mosque, walk through the magals of the old city — Naryn Kala citadel — visit the market — buy souvenirs.
Transfer to South Dagestan, where we will get acquainted with the way of life and traditions of local residents. We will make a stop for photo shoots at the legendary Lun ekranoplane — the only one of its kind, the Soviet engineering project impresses with the scale of the idea and design.
Transfer and sightseeing tour of Derbent, one of the oldest cities in the world. According to various estimates, the city is from 4 to 5 thousand years old.
Nowadays, the entire "old town" is an open-air museum. There is also the oldest Juma mosque, the oldest Christian temple, the house of Peter the Great, the Khan's palace, the fortress wall of Dagbar.
And of course, the mighty citadel of Naryn-kala is a "solar fortress" that has protected Derbent from the invasion of nomads for thousands of years. A walk through the magals of the old town.
The opportunity to taste the most delicious national chudu and khinkal in the world.
We will definitely take a look at Derbent Bazaar, a colorful oriental market. An abundance of fruits and sweets, homemade mountain cheese and honey, of course, urbech is a super—product from Dagestan.

Day 4 - Sulak canyon, Oak trees, trout farming

Day 5 - Kezenoy-Am Lake, Khoy city. Muslim Pride Mosque
It starts at 08:30.
Program of the day: Vedenskoe gorge — Kharachoy village — Kezenoy lake - ruins of the ancient village of Khoy — mosque "Pride of Muslims".
Today we are heading to the high-altitude lake Kezenoy-Am, which is the largest and deepest in the North Caucasus.
We will drive through the picturesque Vedensky gorge and stop at the monument to the famous Chechen Abrek Zelimkhan near the village of Kharachoy and the mountain spring "Maiden Spit".
Lake Kezenoy-Am, spread out among mountain steppes and rocks, impresses with its beauty. The lake is located at an altitude of 1869 meters above sea level.
A short excursion to the ruins of the ancient village of Khoi with an inspection of the combat and signal towers hanging over a deep gorge, arched buildings of the highlanders, artificial terraces for agriculture.

Day 6 - Sightseeing tour of Grozny and Vladikavkaz

Grozny today is a very beautiful and hospitable city, reborn from the ashes of a distant war. The spiritual heart of the city is the Heart of Chechnya Mosque, which resembles a fragile flower from a distance, but admires the grandeur of architecture up close.
The Church of the Archangel Michael, built by the Cossacks in 1868 and restored after the war.
We will visit the Grozny City high-rise complex, with an ascent to the panoramic platform on the 33rd floor, from where you can enjoy a view of the city and the surrounding area.
The Flower Park near the complex, also popularly known as the "Park of Wonders", is one of the most popular places in the capital.

Day 7 - Alagir Gorge, Cei, Mamison
Beginning at 08:30, collection from hotels.
Program of the day: Uastyrdzhi sanctuary and rock monument — Tsey gorge — cable car to the Skazsky glacier — Mamison gorge — Lisri village — obelisk to the Gazdanov brothers.
Moving along the Military Ossetian road in the Alagir gorge, to the right along the route, attention is attracted by a mighty sculptural composition. This is Nykhas Uastyrdzhi, as they call him in Ossetia. This place is a dzuar, a holy place. The sculpture is attached to a rock and weighs 28 tons!
In the Ossetian tradition, Uastyrdzhi is one of the main characters of the Nart epic — a celestial being, the patron saint of men, travelers and warriors. The monument is considered one of the largest equestrian monuments in the world.
On the way we will see the cave and the sanctuary of Sau Baraga (the Black Horseman). The place and the very image of the Black Horseman are shrouded in many legends and beliefs that we have to learn.
We will turn from Transkam to the Tseysky Gorge or Tseyskaya horseshoe. Places of power are Alan historical and religious buildings. The entire Tsey Gorge is a state nature reserve, and the figure of the patron saint Afsati at the entrance symbolizes protection for everyone living in this beautiful corner of the Caucasus.
Monk Mountain is the motionless and stern guardian of Cei.
We will take a chairlift to the Skaz glacier (ticket - extra charge), see the ice grotto from where the Skazdon River is rushing out, enjoy the views of the mountain elements.

Moving further along the Transkam into the depths of mountainous Ossetia, we head to the Mamison gorge, one of the most remote and once inaccessible corners of Ossetia. Military and residential towers and entire fortified complexes of medieval mountain settlements are still preserved here.
In the ancient village of Lisri, we will encounter artifacts from past eras, and see architectural structures of ancient architecture. We will learn about the legends and history of other settlements in the gorge: Tib, Tli, Kalak, Zgil.
On the way back to Vladikavkaz, we will stop at the piercing obelisk of the Gazdanov Brothers in the village of Dzuarikau to pay tribute to the memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War.
Return to Vladikavkaz by 16:30.

Day 8 - An exciting trip to Mountainous Ingushetia
Important: to enter the border area of the Dzheyrakh Gorge, the presence of a Russian passport is mandatory, and foreign citizens need to obtain a pass. The pass is issued by the tourist himself one month before the start of the tour.

From the height of the Tsey Loam mountain pass, magnificent views of the snow-capped peak of Kazbek will open and stunning photos can be taken from the observation deck.
Next, we head to the Targim basin, the heart of mountainous Ingushetia. A land shrouded in legends and ancestral lore. The ancient Egikal is the largest tower complex. Hundreds of buildings of the once mighty village are scattered along the western slope of the Tsey Loam ridge.
Very close to the stop at the Targim tower complex. Four tall towers confirm that in ancient times there were four castles of influential Ingush dynasties here.
The Vnushki Towers are one of the most striking monuments of medieval architecture in Ingushetia, recognized as a finalist in the Seven Wonders of Russia competition!
Acquaintance with the oldest Christian church in Russia — Thaba-Yerdy in the Assinsky gorge, on the right tributary of the river Assi, near the border with Georgia. Built back in the 8th century, it was originally pagan.

Day 9 - The Kurtatinsky and Karmadon gorges. Dargavs. Departure

Karmadon is one of the narrowest and most rugged gorges in Ossetia. The gorge's infamy is associated with the collapse of the Kolka Glacier in 2002. As a result of the collapse, residents of the gorge died.
Transfer to Dargava Valley. The Dargava necropolis, popularly called the "City of the Dead", consists of more than 90 crypt structures of original shape. Watchtowers of the 16th and 17th centuries.
The Kurta and Tag Tower is one of the symbols of Ossetia, located on top of a cliff at the convergence of three gorges. In the Middle Ages, the tower was of crucial strategic importance in defending against the enemy and in rallying Ossetian clans.
The observation deck offers spectacular views of the Fiagdon Valley, other family tower complexes, and terraces reclaimed from the mountains for planting crops.
The highest mountain monastery in Russia is the Holy Dormition Alan Monastery. Fiagdon monuments: at the monument "The Grieving Horse" let us remember the soldiers of the Kurtatians who gave their lives for their Homeland in the Great Patriotic War. We will also see the world's first monument to Lenin and a bust of Stalin.

Kadargavan Canyon. A unique place where you can see how, over hundreds of years, a mountain river has eroded the soft limestones of a rocky ridge, and a huge boulder that fell from the mountain has become a natural bridge over the canyon.
Dzivgis rock fortress. The fortress dates back to the time of the invasion of Tamerlane, that is, around the 15th century. An amazing tactical contraption created by the highlanders to protect them from enemy raids.

rain protection clothes;

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the tour providers for their professionalism and attention to detail. Everything was thoughtfully planned, from the itinerary to the warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the trip. a special thank-you goes to our guide, Dmitri. Thanks to him, every participant felt cared for and included. We shared many laughs, had wonderful conversations about the mountains, and truly enjoyed every moment of the journey. I would also like to thank our driver, Yuri, for his calm demeanor, confidence behind the wheel, and the sense of safety he provided every step of the way. in the mountains, that kind of reliability is priceless. I would especially like to highlight the excellent organization of the tour. Everything was arranged at the highest level: comfortable minibus transfers, well-located hotels, precise scheduling, and great attention to detail. I was particularly impressed that we traveled through Dagestan and Chechnya during the holy month of Ramadan, when Muslims observe strict fasting. Because of this, many cafés and restaurants were closed during the day, and even some grocery stores were not operating. Nevertheless, this did not prevent us from discovering the delicious Caucasian cuisine, hearty breakfasts and lunches were organized for us everywhere we went. I would also like to thank our guides for their courtesy, punctuality, and the fascinating way they introduced us to the culture and traditions of the peoples of the Caucasus.

A huge thank you to the providers and the entire team!!!! 🤝👍 My husband and I went on a weekend tour to North Ossetia, and we absolutely loved it. I completely fell in love with the mountains ❤️ the scenery was so breathtaking it literally made my head spin. It’s unbelievably beautiful there 😍!!:) The trip lasted 4 days : the first day included a sightseeing tour, followed by three days in the mountains with skiing, snowboarding, and visits to the thermal springs. Everything was pleasant and well organized right from the booking stage. All of our additional questions were answered in great detail, everything was honest and transparent :) which is really important :D You can tell that everything has been carefully thought out: the service was attentive without being intrusive, and everyone involved was genuinely friendly and passionate about their work!:) We will definitely travel with “Big Country” again!! If you’re still hesitating - don’t overthink it, just choose a tour and go!!! :D The company of these wonderful people will truly make your trip unforgettable!
