Our way lies to the city of Bakhchisarai, the former capital of the Crimean Khanate.
You will visit the famous landmark of Bakhchisarai – the Holy Dormition Monastery.
You can stroll through the picturesque Maryam-dere gorge and visit the temples of the monastery. According to legend, an icon of the Mother of God was found on the rocks, in whose honor it was decided to carve a temple in the rock. You will also enjoy a fascinating tour of the picturesque streets of Bakhchisarai.
After a long walk, a well-deserved delicious lunch accompanied by national music. You will plunge into the atmosphere of Crimean Tatar hospitality.
According to custom, coffee is served first on the table (coffee among the Crimean Tatars is a symbol of hospitality).
The first dish is yufak-ash (dumplings in broth); the special art of making them so that a spoon holds 8 pieces. Then the visitors taste sarma (cabbage rolls in grape leaves). Next, they are served: dymlama (vegetables with meat), yantyk (a variant of cheburek). Finally, herbal tea with kurabye.
After a delicious lunch, you will visit the Khan's Palace, the residence of the Crimean khans of Girey.
The main architectural idea of the palace is the embodiment of the Muslim idea of a garden of eden on earth. Even the name of the city translates as a garden palace.
You will see:
- Khan's Mosque;
- The Council and Court Room;
- The Golden Fountain;
- The Persian courtyard;
- the famous Fountain of Tears, sung by A.S. Pushkin in the poem "The fountain of Bakhchisarai";
- the khan's private chambers, the harem.
