Day 1 - Meeting. City sightseeing tour
Meeting at Makhachkala airport at 16:00.
Transfer to Makhachkala.
Sightseeing tour of the city.
The city of Makhachkala is located at the foot of the Tarki-Tau mountain range, on the shore of the Caspian Sea.
It is the third most populous city in the North Caucasus region and the largest city in the North Caucasus Federal District.
The city is growing and developing, but its old part, small, not at all elegant, still lives its own life.
One of the oldest streets of the city runs along the sea, and on it are century-old houses, courtyards with arched gates and overhanging balconies.
Makhachkala surprises with its wide cultural heritage.

Day 2 - Sarykum dune. Sulak Canyon
Breakfast at the hotel.
A visit to the Sarykum dune (an entrance ticket is paid additionally).
The dune itself stands firmly in place due to the sparse desert vegetation covering the slopes.
A boat trip along the Sulak Canyon or a boat trip along the Chirkeysky reservoir (extra charge).
Visit the observation decks overlooking the Sulak Canyon in the village of Dubki.
Sulak Canyon is one of the deepest canyons in the world.
Its depth reaches 1920 meters.
Lunch (extra charge).
Transfer to Gunib.
Transfer along the picturesque mountain road along the Irganai reservoir with stops for photos.
Our path will pass through the Gimrinsky highway tunnel.
This is the longest tunnel in Russia.

Day 3 - Gamsutl
Breakfast.
Visit to the village of Gamsutl.
The walking route is about 8 km. Descent down the mountainside.
On the top of Mount Amalie, in the Gunib district of Dagestan, lies the beautiful village of Gamsutl.
This village is one of the oldest settlements in the territory of modern Dagestan.
The village is located on the top of a mountain, at an altitude of about 1,500 meters above sea level, from where the surroundings are clearly visible.
Today, the village of Gamsutl is a landmark that excites.
Gamsutl is a ghost village.
Stop in the village of Chokh.
Return to Gunib.
It's time for lunch.
A tour of Gunib.
The village of Gunib has a wonderful mountain climate, where the weather is good for more than 300 days a year.
The village is located at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level, on the Gunib plateau, which is a natural botanical garden with its own mountain microclimate.
The highest altitude of the plateau is 1800 meters.

Day 4 - Hunzakh, Tobot Waterfall
Breakfast.
Room release.
Visit to the Saltinsky waterfall.
Transfer to the village of Khunzakh.
A tour of the surrounding area.
The most attractive natural attraction in the vicinity of the village is called the Tobot Waterfall, and not far from the waterfall stands the Hunzakh fortress, a fortification of the nineteenth century, now a monument of federal significance.
Not far from the village of Khunzakh is the village of Tsada, where the house museum of Gamzat Tsadasy is located.
He is an Avar, Soviet poet, statesman, people's poet of the Dagestan ASSR and the father of Rasul Gamzatov.

Day 5 - Derbent

Derbent is one of the oldest cities in the world, an open—air museum city, a unique architectural and historical monument, whose military fortifications rightfully stand on a par with the largest fortifications in the world.
A visit to the Naryn-Kala fortress (entrance fee is paid additionally).
The fortress was founded in the IV century BC.
This defensive citadel protected the peoples of Transcaucasia from the raids of the northern nomads.
The fortress is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The Naryn-Kala citadel offers a wonderful view of the city.
Wine tasting at the Derbent Sparkling Wine Factory or the Derbent Wine Company (extra charge).
A visit to the Derbent market.

Day 6 - Ahty
Breakfast at the hotel.
A trip to Akhty.
Akhty is a village located in southern Dagestan in the valley of the Samur River at an altitude of more than 1000 meters above sea level.
It is the oldest settlement in Dagestan.
Since ancient times, Akhty has been famous for its healing hot springs coming to the surface from the depths of shale rocks.
The ancient quarters of the village of Akhty are located on the slopes of the mountain and on the site of the opposite side of the Akhtychai River.
The new part of the village is located in the flat part, in the Samur valley.
Akhty is famous for its bridges: the Usta Idris Bridge and the Debernardi Bridge.
The remains of an old fortress are also preserved in the village.
Excursion to the Akhtyn Museum of Local Lore (extra charge).
Visit to the Ancient Akhtyn baths.
Akhtyn springs (paid additionally) are hydrogen sulfide sources of hot natural water, saturated with useful trace elements and hydrogen sulfide.
Today, 3 sources are mainly visited here: Soldiers', officers', and women's.
The water temperature is 50-53 degrees.
Return to Derbent.

The pearl of Southern Dagestan, Russia's only subtropical liana forest, is located in the delta of the Samura River.
The flora of the Samursky reserve has more than 1000 species, among which there are many relict forms, as well as rare and endangered species listed in the Red Books of Russia and Dagestan.
More than 300 species of birds have been recorded in the Samur River Delta.
The Samur River is very rich in valuable fish: mullet, trout, pike, walleye.
The Samur forest is a living natural complex: huge trees, tall green grass and evergreen vines that intricately intertwine all the greenery and trees.
For those who wish, it is possible to organize a picnic for an additional fee.
Return to Derbent.

The program includes hiking in the mountains (5-10 km) and climbing the slopes of the mountains.

The ascent to Gamsutl involves a drop-off by car and a walking route. In the parking lot, local residents provide drop-off services on mountain transport (UAZ, Niva). You can drive by car for about 1.5 km, and at this moment the steepest part of the climb is overcome. The cost of the service is 100-200 rubles / person in one direction. From the car stop, the path to the end of the route will be 1.8 km, the height difference is 1450-1670 m.

A wonderful tour with a rich and engaging itinerary. Our guide, Svetlana, was very responsible and did an excellent job, explaining everything in detail. I was pleased with both the hotels and the food. Adding extra lunches was a great decision; it made everything more convenient, and I especially enjoyed the Pomor-style lunch at the Pomor restaurant. The transportation was also comfortable and reliable.
