Expedition to Komandory

The Commander Islands Nature Reserve is the largest marine reserve in Russia, its area can be compared with the territory of Belgium.

It is a land of winds, mists and a unique variety of flora and fauna. The green hills here are replaced by rocks, the tundra by sandy dunes for many kilometers, the stormy waters of the ocean by quiet coves, the noise of whale fountains by the splash of killer whales and dolphins.

We will spend four of the eleven days of our trip on the Commodores, exploring them during trekking and sea trips on rubber boats. We'll see giant pinniped rookeries and bird markets, and we'll meet whales.

The cruise also includes a visit to the windiest place in Russia, exploring the Far Eastern fjords, a visit to the national Chukchi village and the best fishing in Kamchatka.

Tour highlights

Bird Market is a record holder
We will walk along the end point of the Anadyr Bay – Cape Navarin, a place rich in winds and storms, serving as a haven for more than a million birds.
Pinniped rookeries
We will find a huge accumulation of pinnipeds: sea lions and Steineger seals live next to seals and sea otters, and each species has its own habits.
The business card of the archipelago
We will see the amazing Steller Arch, a stone remnant in the form of a man–made arch, named after a doctor from the Vitus Bering expedition.
Kamchatka fishing
We will stop near the mouth of the Zhupanova River and unhook the spinning rods to catch rainbow trout, whose weight can reach 6-8 kg.
National Chukchi Village
We will visit a village located between two lakes and separated from the Bering Sea by a river connecting the lakes and a spit through which the river flows into the sea.
Hot springs
There is an island in the center of Tintikun Lagoon, where just a few meters from the water there are Goven thermal springs, where we will bask

Our cruises take place on the passenger expedition vessel Professor Khromov, designed for polar and oceanographic research.

The vessel was built at a shipyard in Finland and, due to its high UL ice class, is suitable for navigating hard-to-reach areas in difficult weather conditions.

On board there is a library, a conference and cinema room, 2 restaurants, a bar, a sauna, a medical room, a captain's bridge, 29 cabins of the categories "shipowner's suite", "mini-suite", "superior plus", "superior" and "standard".
