Arrival in Yelizovo, transfer to the visit center of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve, where the Kamchatka Nature Museum is located.
Here we will have an excursion, acquaintance with the work of scientists in the reserve. Participants of the program will be told about bear monitoring in Kamchatka, how it is conducted and how to determine the gender, age and even approximate weight of a bear by its tracks.
Next, we will go to the laboratory of Biogeochemistry and Recreational resources of Kamchatka State University, where its head will hold a briefing and give instructions on the route.
On the way we have to:
- collect river water samples for hydrochemical analysis and environmental assessment;
- to study mineral springs (measure their temperatures and also take samples) and plants;
- to investigate various forms of relief and determine their age, to assess the intensity of its destruction;
- dig a pit (a vertical depression in the ground), which can be used to study the structure of the soil.
We will return to the accommodation in the evening.
