The whole of Kamchatka in 2 weeks. Volcanoes and the Pacific Ocean

We are going to the village of Kozyrevsk (about 7-8 hours) along the federal highway, which is 200 km of asphalt and almost 300 km of gravel.

On the way, we will stop in the village of Sokoch and try the famous local pies. They are famous primarily due to their considerable size!

We will stay in a cozy guest house for the night, get acquainted in the evening, and the guide will give a briefing on the further program.

Transfer to Tolbachik volcano in glamping to the Dead Forest off-road through the Kamchatka taiga and through volcanic ash, we have to go around a large lava tongue that blocked the road during the 2012 eruption.  It takes about 4-7 hours to drive (depending on the condition of the "road", if you can call it that). Cozy glamping will be our home for a few days.

After lunch, we will take a walk through the Dead Forest, which was formed as a result of an eruption in 1975 — the trees were buried under red—hot volcanic ash - their skeletons have been preserved to this day. After more than 50 years of life, it gradually reclaims a place from death — now mosses, willow tea, raspberries grow in the Dead Forest - the first harbingers of the rebirth of the Earth.

We will walk through the Dead Forest and look at the Zvezda crater, where lava once boiled, and now it is a pile of slag and ash on the edge of the Dead Forest - here we will find a skin cave, which all lovers of caving can crawl through. 

And we will also have time to climb the active cones of Tolbachik volcano, which were formed during the Great fractured eruption of Tolbachik volcano in 1975 — the largest eruption of the 20th century, its area is 800 square kilometers!

There is no clear walking distance on this day, we will walk about 10-15 km on foot.

Today we will walk through the almost cooled lava field formed during the eruption of 2012-2013, it was called the Jubilee fractured Tolbachin eruption. We will walk through the lava field, climb the active volcanic cones — huge hills of volcanic rocks, look for lava caves that periodically form on the field due to the fragility of the lava…

Here you can still find areas where volcanic heat breaks out from under the lava, as well as lava caves formed as a result of collapses of fragile lava rock. Also, according to the weather and forces, it will be possible to climb the cone of the Naboko breakthrough — it was he who erupted in 2012-2013 and formed the lava field through which we walked.

Based on the weather forecast, the guide can swap this day and tomorrow.

There is no clear mileage of hiking on this day, we will walk about 10-15 km on foot.

For the most active and hardy participants — climbing the Plosky Tolbachik volcano (3140 m) — at the top of which we will have an unforgettable view of the lava fields, dozens of volcanoes and volcanoes located in this area, as well as the old Tolbachik crater, about 500 m deep! 

The ascent is technically not difficult, it is pedestrian without the use of any special equipment. But there will be a protracted climb to the crater, it usually takes 6-8 hours. From the edge of the crater there is a view of the crater of the Plosky Tolbachik volcano — 2 km in diameter and 500 m deep, and in the other direction there is a view of the neighboring peak of the Ostroy Tolbachik volcano, as well as a panorama of the volcanoes of the Klyuchevskaya group — in case of good weather it will be possible to look from above at all the places where we passed. In the evening, we will descend from the volcano and return to the camp through the already familiar lava field. 

If desired, you can not go to the volcano and stay in the camp.

On the way light, 13 km, climb 1800 m, drop 1800 m.

If it will be difficult for you to walk through lava fields and cones, then we strongly recommend not climbing Tolbachik! The guide may unilaterally refuse to allow climbing to those of the participants who do not have good enough physical fitness for reasons of both their own safety and the safety of the group.

Transfer to Yelizovo 500 km 12-14 hours depending on the condition of the road. 

We spend the night at the Blue Lagoon Spa Hotel, where we stayed at the beginning of the tour.

• A boat trip across the Pacific Ocean (fishing and lunch of freshly caught seafood are provided here, and there is also a chance to see whales, killer whales, sea lions and seals. In July and August, our participants on such excursions almost always meet whales and killer whales in Russian Bay),
• A helicopter flight to the Valley of Geysers, which does not need to be introduced locally, or to the Kuril Lake, the main habitat of bears in Kamchatka.
• Walking on boots.
• Horse riding.
• Rafting on the river with fishing.

Traditionally, our guests choose a boat trip to Russian Bay and a helicopter tour to the Valley of Geysers.

It's time to look at the ancient fire—breathing dragons that have been sleeping (but sometimes waking up) in Kamchatka for centuries - volcanoes!

Transfer to Gorely volcano (about 3-4 hours), ascent to the volcano. On the way, we will stop at the Vilyuchinsky pass — from here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Vilyuchinsky volcano.

The height of Gorely volcano is 1829 m. The volcano's caldera stretches for 13 km, here we will climb three large volcanic cones, one of which houses a turquoise acid lake, and the others have fumarolic activity.

The ascent and descent take about 4-5 hours. It is believed that this is one of the most accessible volcanoes for tourists, but it should be borne in mind that any uphill climb can be difficult for a person with low physical activity in everyday life.

Let's have a bite and head back to the city.

According to weather conditions, if the top of Gorely volcano is covered with clouds, the guide may decide to change the plan for today and visit another location (Vilyuchinsky Waterfall, Small "valley of geysers", Mutnovskaya Geothermal station, caves of Gorely volcano, etc.).

Mutnovskaya geothermal power plant is a geothermal station, where electricity is extracted from the energy of volcanoes, the station provides 20% of all electricity in the Kamchatka Territory.

An interesting place in a picturesque mountain valley, where artificial geysers - columns of steam — burst out of the ground here and there with great pressure. You can walk past the station along the path to the "Small Valley of Geysers" — in fact, this is an active fumarole field, the hot gases of which warm up the cold water of a mountain stream, as a result of which you can observe fountains of hot water and steam and an interesting almost lifeless multicolored landscape.

On the way to Gorely volcano, 8 km round trip, climb (and then reset) 750 m.

Transfer by all—terrain vehicle to Mutnovsky volcano - here we will take a walk along the edge of the volcano crater! If there is no low clouds, we will see the oldest traces of eruptions, a fumarole field, acid yellow from sulfur, where the earth is warm and humming underfoot due to steam escaping from fumaroles under enormous pressure, we will look at a volcanic lake and an active funnel.

Then we will go to the waterfall in the Dangerous Canyon on the Vulkannaya River, where an 80-meter waterfall pours its waters from the colorful and multi-layered walls of the gorge.

According to weather conditions, if there is low cloud cover and too much snow (this may be in late July — early August, which will make it difficult to travel even for off-road transport), the guide may decide to change the plan for today and visit another location (Vilyuchinsky Waterfall, Small "valley of geysers", Mutnovskaya Geothermal Station, caves of Gorely volcano).

Since the Mutnovsky volcano is very active, sometimes the Ministry of Emergency Situations closes the trail along its slopes, so the program of this day could be changed.

There is a round trip to Mutnovsky volcano of 8 km, a climb (and then a reset) of 400 m.

After breakfast, we will go to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky — walk along the embankment of Avacha Bay and visit souvenir shops from Kamchatka manufacturers.

And today we will get acquainted with another Kamchatka — oceanic — we will go to Halaktyrsky beach on the Pacific Ocean, interesting because the sand on it is black — volcanic in origin, and in clear weather the beach offers a beautiful view of the surrounding volcanoes... the blue waves of the Pacific Ocean, black sand and huge volcanoes on the horizon are difficult to squeeze in other words, what an amazing picture opens before our eyes on this coast of Kamchatka… 

Here we will try to get on the board at a surfing lesson in one of the legendary Kamchatka surf schools, which attract surfers from all over the world.

After surfing, we will go to the best thermal spa complex in Kamchatka - it is such a pleasure to relax in hot water after an active day!

We continue the maritime history — we will go on a boat trip to Russian Bay.

From the pier of Avacha Bay, we will embark on an exciting journey along the rocky coastline of the Kamchatka Peninsula. Let's walk past the picturesque rocks of the Three Brothers, see the bird markets on the island of the Old Men. Here you can see chistikos, moevok, cormorants, hatchets, kair, old men (they live in holes dug in the ground). And on the high coastal cliffs, you can see the nests of the largest bird of prey — the white-shouldered eagle.

We have to reach the entrance to Russian Bay, where a large colony of sea lions — northern sea lions - lives on Cape Kekurny in summer. In July and August, there are very high chances of meeting whales and killer whales in the ocean.

If you wish, you can try sea fishing — there will be gear freely available on the ship.

One of the most exciting and challenging adventures of our trip to Kamchatka: climbing the crater of the active Avacha volcano (2,741 m)! 

The way up takes 6-7 hours. If there are no low clouds, then on the crater we will have a great view of the surroundings: Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Avachinsky Bay, the Pacific coast, Nalychevskaya Valley, Koryaksky, Kozelsky, Zhupanovsky, Mutnovsky volcanoes.

Active activity does not stop in the crater, it smells of sulfur, fumaroles are floating, the earth is warm.

There is a round trip of 15 km, a set (and then reset) altitude of 1800 m.

You need to rest (for those who need it). Or you can take advantage of your free time and choose an activity to suit your taste:

• A boat trip across the Pacific Ocean (fishing and lunch of freshly caught seafood are provided here, and there is also a chance to see whales, killer whales, sea lions and seals. In July and August, our participants on such excursions almost always meet whales and killer whales in Russian Bay).
• A ride on the boots.
• A horse ride.
• Rafting on the river with fishing.
