Day 1 - Petrozavodsk, Kivach Nature Reserve
07:50 We meet our dear guests at the Petrozavodsk railway station.
The guide meets the arrival of train No. 18 from Moscow (a sign with the name of the tour).
Tourists arriving on earlier trains or on their own transport approach the meeting place.

A tour of the capital of the Republic of Karelia.
Petrozavodsk is the younger brother of St. Petersburg, born with him in the same year. It was founded in 1703 by Peter the Great.
You will get acquainted with the historical center, the monument to Peter I, the governor's Park.
A promenade along the beautiful city embankment along Lake Onega, where there is a collection of original sculptures located in the open air.

A tour of the Kantele House + a master class.
On the tour you will get acquainted with the history of the Kantele House, learn the secrets of making kantele — a traditional musical instrument, stage clothes of artists created based on the "motives" of Karelian costumes.
You will also get acquainted with the work of the workshop of national instruments and the department for the creation, restoration and storage of folk costumes.

After an exciting excursion, you will ride 2.5 km by dog sled in the snow-covered Karelian forest, accompanied by an instructor (2 people on 1 sled).

In winter, the snow-covered Kizhi island looks extremely beautiful and charming: the silence of sleeping nature in harmony with the beauty of the wooden Kizhi churches.
10:00 Departure from the embankment of Petrozavodsk on the SVP (hovercraft "Khivus-10").
Tourists come to the gathering place for an excursion on their own.
You will take a fascinating journey through the snow-covered Onega Lake.
The boat has a spacious interior, in which a comfortable temperature is maintained even in severe frosts.
The windows in the cabin are located around the perimeter, which gives a great view and allows all passengers to admire nature.

Getting acquainted with the pearl of Russian wooden architecture — the Kizhi architectural ensemble.
You will explore the unique multi—headed temples and iconographic decoration of the Church of the Intercession of the Kizhi churchyard, enter the house of the Zaonezhsky peasant, find out how and how these people lived, see the Church of the Resurrection of Lazarus - the oldest in Russia, which was revered as an Orthodox shrine.

Karelian culture and a kind of Kindasian humor are combined in a unique way here. Since the 19th century, stories and anecdotes have been circulating about the villagers. By coming here, you can become a real Kindasian and even speak Karelian. You will be treated to traditional Karelian pies and fragrant tea with herbs!
You will hear the enchanting sounds of national instruments: kantele and jouhikko, find out what a yaga is, why Karel needs a big house and who is in charge of the village. In this place, even adults have fun like children!
Cost: 3,500 rubles/adult, 3,300 rubles./children up to and including 12 years old, 2500 rubles./children under 5 years old (booking in advance and payment on site).
Day 3 - Ruskeala Mountain Park

Departure for an excursion to the Ruskeala Mountain Park (260 km from Petrozavodsk) is the most visited tourist site in Karelia at the moment.
Lunch at a cafe (on the route).
On the way, stop at a picturesque place near Ruskeala waterfalls.
The shooting of the cult Soviet film "And the dawns are quiet here" took place here.
Now it is a great place for walks and photo shoots in nature.
Here you can walk along the ecotrope with hinged bridges and look at the waterfalls from above (for an additional fee ~ 400 rubles/adult, 300 rubles./children, pensioners, students).
Guided tour of the Ruskeala Mountain Park (land, pedestrian).
Since the 17th century, marble has been mined here for 300 years to decorate palaces and temples of the Northern capital.
A Marble lake was formed in a huge man-made bowl, which is now admired by numerous tourists.
In winter, it sleeps under an ice blanket.
The rock grotto and tunnels carved in marble will make an indelible impression on you.
There are no analogues of this unique natural object either in Russia or in Europe!
In your free time (for an additional fee), you can visit the Underground Ruskeala tour, ride over Marble Lake on a zip-line trolley, eat in the cafe of the mountain park, buy souvenirs.
Additional services on the territory of the mountain park are purchased directly on the spot, at the ticket offices of the mountain park. They are not booked in advance.
From the mountain park, we recommend taking the Ruskeala Express retro train along the Ruskeala — Sortavala route — this interesting journey takes place in the atmosphere of the early twentieth century. There is also a dining car on the train. Buy train tickets in advance on the Russian Railways website (tickets are not included in the tour price).
Departure home from Sortavala by train:
18:45 to St. Petersburg No. 822H "Swallow" (arrival at 22:43);
20:25 to Moscow No. 160A (arrival at 10:16 the next day).
It is also possible to return to Petrozavodsk and leave Petrozavodsk.

It's important to know

Travel clothes should be, first of all, comfortable. Take with you what you usually wear for hiking and recreation.The weather in Karelia is capricious and changeable. When you are outdoors for a long time in winter, the feeling of cold increases even if there is no severe frost outside. We recommend taking waterproof and windproof outerwear. Wear several layers of clothing – it gives more warmth.
