Sightseeing tour of New Year's Petrozavodsk.
You will get acquainted with the capital of Karelia. You will find out why Petrozavodsk was famous throughout the Russian Empire during the time of Catherine II, take a walk through the cozy center and see how successfully history and modernity combine in the appearance of the city.
Visit to the Shungite Center.
You will get acquainted with the mysterious mineral, here you will learn about the properties of shungite and its application, visit the shungite relaxation room, rest in which will give you an incredible charge of living energy.

After that, you will be treated to Karelian ivan tea.

Departure to the country interactive program: Welcome to the secret Workshop of Grandfather Hull! A place where the Christmas spirit hovers, and a forgotten fairy tale comes to life!

Here, in the heart of Karelia, in a remote forest, is the Karelian estate of Grandfather Hull, the most hardworking of the Morozov brothers. The landlady Inkeri and his helpers, the housekeepers, live with him. The most favorite activity of housewives is telling children fairy tales around the campfire and treating them to delicious marshmallows.

Getting into the estate is not easy. It is necessary to pass the tests: to master the skill of skiing – shukshah and sleigh – smoking. Did you manage? And now to the workshops!

For the youngest guests, the "School of Housewives" is open, where children will be taught magic tricks and test their skills in making New Year's toys. At this time, adults will learn the Karelian dance and make a talisman with their own hands, which they will take with them as a souvenir.

Well, where is Hull's Grandfather? He watched your efforts and is now waiting for everyone in his office. Remember – the most important and cherished desires can be whispered in his ear!

Option No. 1. Husky sledding + Kivach Nature Reserve (program duration ~ 7 hours).
Departure to the countryside, to the kennel of sled dogs and to the Kivach Nature Reserve.
In the kennel of sled dogs, the program "Breath of the North" awaits you: a tour of the kennel, feeding deer, dog sledding 2.5 km.
At the end of the program, we warm up with tea in the gazebo "grilled cat" by a live fire. The duration of the program is ~ 2 hours.
Transfer to the Kivach Nature Reserve, to the famous Kivach waterfall. Translated from Karelian, "kivach" means "snowy mountain", translated from Finnish — "powerful". In any case, this "powerful snow mountain" will not leave anyone indifferent.
At all times, poets have composed poems about the waterfall, artists come here for open-air performances, and how many photographers are attracted by the unique views of Kivacha! It is not for nothing that he is the hallmark of Karelia.
Return to the city.
Option No. 2. Excursion to Kizhi Island through Zaonezhye (duration of the tour ~ 14 hours).

A bus tour from Petrozavodsk to the village of Velikaya Guba will introduce you to interesting facts from the history of the region, its traditions, nature and notable places of the Zaonezhye region.

From D. Oyatevshchyna you will be taken to Kizhi Island on hovercraft, where you will get acquainted with the ensemble of the Kizhi pogost: a sightseeing tour of the main exposition and acquaintance with the traditions of tea drinking in the Olonets province.

Return to Petrozavodsk.

A visit to the Ruskeala Mountain Park, a group land tour "Marble Canyon".

Ruskeala is perhaps the most famous and visited modern attraction in Karelia. Marble has been mined here for centuries, and today it is a mountain park, in the center of which there is an amazing canyon with steep silver walls.

You will have a pleasant walk around the artificial lake, with stops at observation decks and a story about interesting facts from the history of the quarry and marble mining.

Day 4 - Excursions around Sortavala. The Museum of the Northern Ladoga Region

The small European town is one of the most ancient cities in Karelia. It has the status of a historical city of national importance, has an original architectural appearance and has many beautiful architectural objects.
The city is often called the open-air museum of Finnish architecture.
Now Sortavala is the only city in Karelia where the ancient buildings have been preserved.
Mount Paaso is a 10th—12th century Karelian settlement discovered by Finnish archaeologist Otto Appelgren.
You will admire the fantastic panoramas and find out why the ancient Karelians settled on the highest cliffs.
About 10 centuries ago, the entrance to the Paaso settlement was located on the southern slope of the mountain, where the forest path leading to the very top of Paasonvuori now originates.
The mountain offers a panorama of the endless forests and lakes of Karelia, and in the evening the steps of the trail are illuminated with artistic illumination.

Visit to the Museum of the Northern Ladoga Region.
The museum was started by exhibits transferred from the Valaam State Museum Reserve. Now the museum's funds include collections of local lore, represented by objects on the history of the Northern Ladoga region. There are monuments of the XVI-XVII centuries, you can see objects of modern painting, numismatics, everyday life and ethnography, book and documentary collections, a wide mineralogical collection. The museum has temporary exhibitions telling about various milestones in history.

Visiting the exhibition of the unique woodcarver Kronid Gogolev is a real gem of Sortavala. It is a private collection of works by the famous Russian artist Kronid Gogolev.

Believe me, it is impossible to take your eyes off his picturesque paintings created in the style of relief woodcarving!
