Day 1 - Departure to St. Petersburg
22:00 Gathering of the group in Moscow: metro station "VDNKH", parking lot to the right of the hotel "Cosmos".
22:30 Departure to St. Petersburg (travel time about 10 hours, ~700 km).

Day 2 - Walking tour of the center of Vyborg. Castle Island. Monrepos Rock Landscape Park Tour
Arrival in St. Petersburg.

Arrival in Vyborg.
The ancient city of Vyborg was built as a powerful fortress on the coast of the Karelian Isthmus. Having stood for seven centuries, the city was repeatedly subjected to devastating fires, participated in wars, but at the same time retained its fabulous charm.
A walking tour of the center of Vyborg will tell you about the history of the city, its legends and secrets. You will see the Market Square, the Peter and Paul Cathedral, the Transfiguration Cathedral, the Panzerlaks bastion, the Town Hall Tower.
A tour of the Castle Island with an inspection of the symbol of the city - the medieval knightly Vyborg Castle, an external inspection of the St. Olaf Tower (ascent to the observation deck of the tower is currently impossible, the tower is under reconstruction).
The Vyborg Castle Museum also has exhibitions that you can visit in your free time additionally: knight's hall, torture chamber, pottery workshop, archery range, forge, expositions "Underwater Archaeology", "Nature of the Karelian Isthmus", "Swedish Vyborg".

You can discover the amazing architecture of functionalism by visiting the only library in Russia, designed by the outstanding Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. This building was built specifically to house a library, taking into account all the processes taking place in the book house.
A master class on baking a real Vyborg pretzel.
You will learn about its history, recipes and participate in the manufacturing process yourself. We will try two authentic recipes: the medieval one according to the recipe of the Old Woman Marin (rye without yeast) and Viiperinrinkelli, baked on straw (fluffy, yeast).

Day 4 - Kronstadt. The Island of Forts Park. Completion of the program

Departure to Kronstadt.
Our route lies along the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland. Country villages were once located here.
The Russian Citadel on the Baltic Sea tour will allow you to take an exciting trip to Kotlin Island, where the fortress city of Kronstadt ("crown city") appeared at the beginning of the XVIII century.
An introduction to the recently opened museum and historical park "Island of Forts", which is dedicated to the history and glory of the Russian Navy. Here you will find the Alley of Heroes, reminiscent of the road of time, a Lighthouse of memory, recreation areas for children and adults.

15:00 Departure to Moscow via the M11.
Arrival in Moscow is approximately 24:00 at the VDNKh metro station.

I really enjoyed the tour, even despite the snowfall. The itinerary was packed with activities and experiences - so much so that by the second day we were feeling pleasantly tired. The lunches were excellent, and we were glad we chose to include them. The organization was outstanding, and our guide, Nelli, was wonderful. She shared a wealth of interesting information and presented it in a way that kept everyone engaged throughout the trip. The Druzhba Hotel was quite good overall. The breakfasts offered a wide variety of dishes, and the location was convenient, not far from the city center. There was also a supermarket nearby, which was very handy. A few practical notes for future travelers: standard rooms are equipped with 2 separate beds rather than 1 large bed. Slippers and bathrobes are not provided. A hairdryer was available, but the complimentary shower gel and shampoo packets were quite small .
