St. Petersburg is a city where history, architecture and art are intertwined in an amazing pattern, creating a unique atmosphere. Walking along its streets, one involuntarily draws attention to the abundance of sculptural images of animals decorating embankments, bridges, facades of buildings and parks.
And among this diversity, perhaps the most common and memorable symbol of the city is the lion.
The question of the exact number of lions in St. Petersburg is practically a rhetorical question, to which it is impossible to give an unambiguous answer.
After all, lions appear before us in a variety of guises.: These are majestic marble statues, austere granite sculptures, cast-iron figures cast with great care, and bronze sculptures sparkling in the sun.
They can be sitting, lying down, standing on their hind legs, growling menacingly or peacefully dozing.
St. Petersburg has rightfully earned the title of the most "lion" city in Russia. Along with the lions, the city is decorated with their mythical relatives – sphinxes and griffins, which add a touch of mystery and mysticism to the appearance of the city.
Bronze horses are an equally significant part of the animalistic appearance of St. Petersburg. Majestic quadriga and six horses, as if frozen in a rapid run, adorn the arch of the General Staff, the Alexandrinsky Theater and the Narva Triumphal Gate.
And the Anichkov Bridge, with its famous sculpture groups "Horse Tamers", has become a real hallmark of the city, known far beyond its borders. And you will see all this on our tour.
The tour duration is 3 hours.
Transportation is provided for the bus tour.
