Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Tervenici. Alyokhovshchina. Lodeynoye pole

Departure from Saint Petersburg: By bus at 07:00 from the metro station "Dybenko Street".

    Transfer to Tervenici.

Visit to the Museum of Vepsian culture "Enarne ma". In the village of Tervenichi, in the house of merchant Fedot Zaitsev, the museum of Vepsian culture is comfortably located.

Here you will be greeted with an ancient Vepsian rite with a wish for goodness and well-being, you will be told about the history and fate of the Vepsian people, about the peculiarities of the Vepsian language, about ancient traditions and customs.

Visit to the Pokrovo-Tervenichesky monastery. The new monastery was built under the walls of an ancient church, restored by nuns at the end of the 20th century. Now it is a very beautiful monastery with many buildings descending to the shore of the lake.

Here we can visit an ancient temple and a candle shop, admire the paintings made by one of the nuns, and visit the source of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Transfer to the village of Alyokhovshchina.

Set lunch in a cafe (extrapayment).

The village of Alyokhovshchina stands on the banks of the Oyat River. These places are considered the historical location of the middle Veps. And the name "oyat" translates from Vepsian very touchingly – "streamlet". The river coast has long been famous for its rich deposits of high-quality red clay.

Therefore, the Oyat Veps had no shortage of household utensils. They sculpted everything: pots, bowls, cups, toys, and so on. They were engaged in modeling in their free time, more often in winter.

Moreover, the whole family was involved in pottery: women kneaded clay, men molded and fired vessels, and children molded small parts to products.

    Transfer to Lodeynoye Pole.

A visit to the museum of local lore / or a visit to the folk costume studio "Domovushka". The museum's exposition tells about the traditional way of life of the peasants of the Prisvir region in the XIX – early XX century, about the history of the city's development, famous natives of Lodeynoye Pole, and military operations in the Petrozavodsk-Svir direction during the Great Patriotic War.

Visit to the Svirskaya Pobeda Memorial Park.

A walk along the embankment of the Svir River.

Inspection of the house of Peter the Great, the equipped embankment with monuments of the Petrovsky shipyard, the Svir Victory and the monument to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica, the monument of the Order. Visit to the new Cathedral Church of Peter and Paul.

Transfer to Podporozhye. Accommodation at the hotel.

I'm so glad I chose the 'Across the Expanses of Perm the Great' tour in July 2024. It was a high-quality, engaging, and thoughtfully designed journey through the entire Perm region. The trip was full of fascinating discoveries: ancient monasteries, unique museums, the distinctive Permian animal style and wooden deities, the history of salt production and the Stroganovs in the Urals, and much more. The natural beauty of Parma was breathtaking: dense forests, countless rivers, mountains, and even an ice cave. The hotels were comfortable, and the breakfasts and lunches were tasty, often featuring elements of local cuisine. Traveling in a small group made the experience even more enjoyable, after all, it's usually seasoned travelers who venture to the Perm region. One special moment was when we all got to bake and taste traditional gingerbread made from an old recipe, for many of us, it was a first. Huge thanks to our amazing guide, Andrey, and to Venaris, our incredibly skilled driver!
