Excursion to the Sheremetyevo Palace. The tour introduces guests to the grand interiors of the Baroque mansion on Fontanka, built in 1750 by architect S.I.Chevakinsky. The architectural complex of the palace and its adjoining wings is one of the oldest architectural ensembles in St. Petersburg, which have preserved their original appearance.

The grand halls of the palace, recreated in the 21st century as they were in the 1830s, amaze with the variety of their decorative decorations. The first half of the 19th century was the heyday of Russian artistic culture, which received worldwide recognition. During the reign of Alexander I, a significant part of the outstanding architectural structures that became monuments of architecture of Russian classicism was built in St. Petersburg. Such structures are the Kazan Cathedral and the Mining Institute, the ensemble of the Arrow of Vasilyevsky Island with the Exchange building and rostral columns, as well as the Admiralty. Later, the style of “Alexandrov classicism” in Russian architecture began to develop into Empire style. Empire (“empire style") originated in France and focused on the art forms of imperial Rome.

The main exponent of the ideas of the Russian Empire was the architect Karl Rossi (1775-1849), who built thirteen squares and twelve streets in the center of St. Petersburg. Only the "Russian Empire” managed to do what Peter the Great intended – to create an image of an imperial city. It was the work of architects K.I. Rossi, V.P. Stasov, O. Montferrand that formed the majestic ensemble of the central squares of St. Petersburg, which bears the features of the world capital.

Excursion to the Russian Museum. The Russian Museum, a treasure trove of Russian art, occupies one of the most beautiful buildings in the center of St. Petersburg — the former Grand Ducal Mikhailovsky Palace.

We owe it to the architectural genius of Carlo Rossi that in the 1820s and 30s an Empire ensemble appeared in the center of the Russian capital: a palace, a square and a street associated with the name of the youngest son of Emperor Paul I, Grand Duke Mikhail Pavlovich.

The construction of the palace began in 1819 at the behest of Alexander I near the Mikhailovsky Castle, on the site of the buildings of the garden adjacent to it. This was the convenience and proximity of communication with the Winter and Anichkov Palaces, Nevsky Prospekt, and the opportunity to have your own garden.
