The oldest Nizhny Novgorod cathedral, Mikhailo-Arkhangelsky (an architectural monument of the XVII century), is located here, the ashes of the great Nizhny Novgorod resident Kozma Minin are buried in it.
Next, you will have an excursion to the Voznesensky Pechersk Monastery.
The monastery was founded in 1328. The rich history places this object among the main attractions of the city and the country, this object is protected at the federal level.
Today, the ensemble of the monastery occupies more than 5 hectares and includes 5 temples, a bell tower and bishops' chambers. The bell tower of the monastery is a rare type of ancient Russian belfries of the XVI century, and during its existence it acquired a large slope like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
The oldest of the chronicle vaults, the Laurentian Chronicle, was compiled within the walls of the monastery.
The excursion program will end with a cable car ride along the Nizhny Novgorod — Bor — Nizhny Novgorod route (in a circle without exit).
This road is remarkable for many reasons. Firstly, it has the largest unsupported span over the water surface in Europe, with a length of about 800 meters.
