You will see the place where two great rivers merge – the Volga and the Oka.
We will visit one of the grandest temples in Nizhny Novgorod – the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral – the construction of which was named the largest construction site in Russia (1864-1899). Upon completion, the cathedral was considered the third tallest after the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the bell tower of Ivan the Great in the Moscow Kremlin.
Next, we will walk along the Strelka embankment, because it is here, under the ice and snow, that the two great waterways of our country, the Oka and the Volga, collide.
A new Okskaya embankment was built next to the cathedral for the 800th anniversary of the city, which offers a unique panoramic view of the high right bank of the Volga, where the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin sparkles in all its glory in the snow, taking its strong position on the Dyatlov Mountains, the River Station and the historical mountainous part of the city.
We will see the Nizhny Novgorod Fair House – once upon a time there was nowhere to fall on these lands – there was a great bargain here.
13:00 And now it's time to go to the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin and feel outside its walls how impregnable the ancient city can be.
First of all, of course, this is the alley-exhibition of military equipment in the open air "Gorky Residents to the front" – let's tell you a secret – more than one generation of boys and girls climbed these cars, and it still remains one of the favorite places for walks of little Nizhny Novgorod residents.
This is followed by the reconstructed Cathedral Bell Tower, the Church of the Archangel Michael, next to the monument to the founders of Nizhny Novgorod – Yuri Vsevolodovich and Simon Suzdalsky, a restored Arena, a cozy playground, a bronze model of pre-revolutionary Nizhny Novgorod. And of course, what cannot be expressed in words is the views of the Volga!
14:00 Lunch with Santa Claus and tasting of tinctures from the Sormovo Distillery.
And now it's time to refresh yourself, and take on your chest, as they say, 5 drops of SORDIS magic tincture – for tasting.
But even here we will not leave you alone, or rather not us, but Santa Claus, who will bring his enthusiasm and interest to our lunch time!
16:00 Then we will go to one of the oldest streets of the city – Rozhdestvenskaya Street – more than ever New Year and festive!
Walking, you will see all the solemnity of merchant mansions, admire the incredible architectural work of art – the Church of the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary -a masterpiece of the "Russian Baroque".
Following our New Year's route, we will not pass by Kozhevennaya Street, the monument to the Nizhny Novgorod militia, apartment buildings on Nizhnevolzhskaya Embankment and Ilyinskaya Street.
On Minin and Pozharsky Squares, we will see the main towers of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin and be sure to immerse ourselves in the snow fairy tale of the Gorky Christmas Tree – the main event of the New Year holidays in Nizhny Novgorod.
Buffoons, mummers, hot bagel tea and Gorodetsky painted gingerbread, slides, reindeer, master classes for children and adults, dance and vocal performances, sparkling Christmas trees and, of course, Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden - you will not be able to resist the joyful chime of everyone's favorite holiday!
We really hope that the celebration will take place!
Passing through the New Year's turmoil, we will find ourselves with you near the monument to Valery Chkalov, and you can see for yourself how beautiful the winter view is from the Chkalovskaya stairs.
