Ski safari: Elbrus, Mamison and Cei

08:30 After breakfast we go to the ski slopes of Elbrus.

There is a whole day of skiing ahead with unlimited possibilities for outdoor activities.

The total length of the ski slopes is about 12 km, while most of them are red and blue, ideal for an average level of skiing.

The trails on Elbrus are wide and gentle, without a sharp drop in altitude, which will also be comfortable for beginners.

There is a small training slope with a belt lift in the lower part of the resort.

The instructors will help you pick up the equipment, get ski passes and start rolling out the tracks depending on the level of training.

Cable cars smoothly lift us from the village of Azau (2,350 m) to the stations Krugozor (3,000 m), Mir (3,500 m) and Garabashi (3,847 m).

We enjoy skiing, stunning views and active recreation on the ski slopes of the highest mountain in Europe.

We have lunch in a cafe on the slope (extra charge), exchange impressions and at the same time immerse ourselves in the local gastronomy.

They bake the most delicious khichins with cheese, meat and potatoes on Elbrus, and you should definitely try lagman, shorpa and chanakhi from local dishes.

We continue to explore the trails, energizing ourselves with the energy of the mountains, and just enjoy riding.

The atmosphere of the past years has been preserved on Cheget.

It is here that the iconic Ai cafe has been located since the sixties of the last century at an altitude of 2,750 meters and offers the best view of Elbrus in clear weather.

Mamison is now the youngest ski resort in Russia, officially opened in March 2025.

8 trails with a total length of 14 kilometers have already been built.

The resort itself begins at 2025 m above sea level from Kalak station, and the highest developed point today using lifts is located at an altitude of 2950 m, Zaramag 1 and 2 stations.

It is expected that over time, the upper station will be located at an altitude of more than 4,000 m.

The instructors will help you pick up the equipment, get ski passes and start rolling out the slopes on skis and snowboards, depending on the level of training.

Beginners will be able to use the services of instructors on the "green" track, experienced riders will immediately start with the more difficult ones.

We will continue to roll out the already familiar Mamison trails, and those who wish will be able to enjoy the extraordinary beauty of the Tsey Gorge and roll down the slopes from the Skazsky glacier to the foot of Monakh Mountain, the motionless and harsh guardian of Tsey.

We will turn from Transkam to the Tseysky Gorge or Tseyskaya horseshoe.

The gorge has been sacred to Ossetians for many centuries — the most iconic places of worship and places of power are located here — ancient Albanian historical and religious buildings.

The Tsey Gorge is a state nature reserve, and the figure of the patron saint Afsati at the entrance symbolizes protection for everyone living in this beautiful corner of the Caucasus.

Tsei is one of the oldest ski resorts in the Caucasus, it has existed since the seventies of the last century — "Here the peaks look golden at dawn and glaciers lie like a frozen sky": bard Yuri Vizbor.

The slopes of Cei are great for both professionals and beginners.

The ski resort has trails up to 3 kilometers long.

The height difference between the upper and lower stations is 500 meters.
