Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Veliky Novgorod. City sightseeing tour
7:06 (Moscow time)/10:36 (St. Petersburg) Estimated time of arrival in Veliky Novgorod.
Meeting with the guide at the main entrance to the railway station from the platform.
The meeting data is posted the day before.
Transfer to the hotel.
Check-out time in hotels is 14:00.
Early check-in for an additional fee, book in advance.
Breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
For tourists arriving after 10:00, breakfast is replaced with lunch.
11:00 is the approximate start time of the tour.
3-hour car and walking tour of the winter city.

Day 2 - Staraya Russa
Breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
08:00-08:30 Meeting at the hotels of the city.
Departure program: departure to Staraya Russa, a salt city on the Great Waterway "From the Varangians to the Greeks" (100 km), information on the way.
The excursion program:
Sightseeing tour - Staraya Russa is one of the oldest Russian cities.
Monuments of ancient architecture:
Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery (late 12th century);
Mina Church (14th century);
St. Nicholas Church (14th-19th centuries);
Trinity Church and the Resurrection Cathedral (late 17th century).
Lunch in the city center.
Excursion to the F.M. Dostoevsky House Museum, where the novels "The Brothers Karamazov", "Demons" and other works were written.
The interiors of several memorial rooms have been recreated here.
A walk through the resort park.
The unique natural conditions of the imperial resort since the 19th century.
A relict park, ionized air, the most powerful self–draining mineral fountain in Europe - Muravyevsky, three ice-free lakes, pump rooms with healing waters.

Day 3 - Excursion to Valdai. Completion of the tour

Room release before departure for excursions (things in the hotel's luggage room for guests departing to Moscow; things on the bus for guests departing to St. Petersburg).

Departure program: departure to Valdai, a small ancient city on the Moscow – Novgorod highway (140 km), a travel tour.

The trip was extremely informative and full of memorable experiences. I visited three different cities and took part in several excellent excursions. I was especially impressed by Veliky Novgorod: Yaroslav’s Court, the Rurikovo Gorodische, the Khutyn Monastery, and of course the Kremlin with St. Sophia Cathedral, the Chamber of Facets, and the Center of Musical Antiquities. Everything was very well organized. I also had the chance to attend a performance by the local drama theater at the Philharmonic Hall, and the actors were absolutely captivating!!! We were also taken by car to the Iversky Monastery, located near the town of Valday. However, I do regret that the itinerary did not include the Valdaysky District Museum. It’s a small museum right in the center of Valday and would have been a great addition to the trip. Since we traveled such a long distance, it would have been nice to see more of the town itself, the program only included the Museum Bell Center. Another highlight was the unforgettable excursion to Staraya Russa. Elena accompanied us by car and shared a wealth of fascinating information along the way. The Dostoevsky Museum left a particularly strong impression on me, thanks in large part to the excellent guide there. Thank you very much for the excellent organization of the tour!
