Arrival in Pskov.
12:30 p.m. Acquaintance with the city of Pskov will begin with a visit to the Kremlin and the Trinity Cathedral. On the high bank at the confluence of two rivers: Pskov and Velikaya, the Pskov Kremlin (Krom) stands – the main attraction and business card of the ancient city.
And the Trinity Cathedral on its territory is an ornament and a spiritual embodiment. For centuries, the cathedral has been considered a shrine and the center of Pskov's public life.
The most important ancient charters, princely seals and state valuables were kept here. To the north of the cathedral, food supplies, weapons, gunpowder, and armor were stored in barns and cellars.
The main relic and indisputably the decoration of the cathedral is a unique seven-level iconostasis. The golden patterned lace of the iconostasis next to the white ascetic walls of the cathedral creates an incredible contrast and a sense of purity and grandeur.
Transfer to Pechory (54 km).
Pskov Caves Assumption Monastery tour (without visiting distant caves). It is one of the oldest and largest monasteries in Russia, located in a picturesque valley with karst sand caves.
Currently, the monastery has more than ten temples, three of which are cave temples. Behind the Assumption Church is the entrance to the underground necropolis, where thousands of souls of monks, archers, militia and ordinary people rest.
The monastery houses three revered shrines – miraculous icons: the image of the Mother of God of the Assumption is kept in the cave church of the Assumption, and the Tenderness and Vigil are kept in St. Michael's Cathedral. In its more than 500-year history, the monastery has never been closed!
