Day 1 - New Year's sightseeing tour of St. Petersburg
You arrive at the hotel on your own.
A transfer to the hotel is available for an additional fee and must be booked in advance: an individual transfer from the train station/airport (from 1,700 rubles/car).
Guaranteed hotel accommodation after 14:00. You can leave your belongings free of charge in the luggage room of the hotel.
Important information: tourists staying at the A-Hotel Fontanka come to the Azimut Hotel (a nearby building) for a meeting and departure for excursions.
From 12:00 to 14:00 (before departure for the program), a representative of the company with a sign "Sightseeing Petersburg" will meet you in the lobby of the hotel. He will answer all your questions, provide updated tour programs and offer additional excursions that you can purchase at will.

After driving through the historical center of the city, you will admire the winter New Year in St. Petersburg, find out where the tradition of decorating the Christmas tree came from, how New Year and Christmas were celebrated in St. Petersburg, what St. Petersburg New Year traditions existed, and what gifts were given.

The Peter and Paul Fortress is the "heart" of the city, the place where the history of St. Petersburg began. You will see a "city within a city" – typical buildings of Peter the Great's time, the operating Mint enterprise, where commemorative coins, orders and medals are still being minted.
You will visit the Peter and Paul Cathedral, where the tombs of Russian emperors and empresses, as well as grand dukes and princesses, have been preserved.

For a long time, Peter and Paul Cathedral was a monument to the glory of Russian weapons. Captured banners and keys to cities and fortresses captured by Russian troops have been kept here for two centuries. At the beginning of the 20th century, these relics were transferred to the Hermitage.
Copies of Swedish and Turkish banners are now on display in the cathedral.
Excursion to St. Isaac's Cathedral.
St. Isaac's Cathedral will appear before you as a unique work of Russian art from the middle of the 19th century. You will see magnificent wall paintings and paintings on canvas made by famous Russian artists and admire mosaic icons, which were created using smalt in more than 12,000 colors and shades.
You will be amazed by the abundance of different types of stone (from granite to malachite and turquoise) that were used to decorate the temple.

You will see the Northern Capital sparkling in the lights of the festive illumination. The lanterns of Nevsky Prospekt, the main street of the city, look like luxurious candelabra, and festive light stretches create a feeling of a magical garden that you want to capture from all angles.

You will learn how the New Year was celebrated in St. Petersburg, starting from the time of Emperor Peter I. You will visit the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island, where one of the most beautiful Christmas trees shimmers with colorful lights. You will make cherished wishes from the most St. Petersburg "wizards" - mysterious Sphinxes and a cheerful Chizhik-Pyzhik.

In order for everything to go well in the New Year, it is necessary to spend the outgoing year well. And we will definitely support this tradition: we are spending the old year on another beautiful square – St. Isaac's Square, and we will celebrate the New Year 2024 with champagne.
