Vyazma is a city of military glory, the birthplace of Pavel Nakhimov, Anatoly Papanov and Lyudmila Kasatkina, Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich lived in Vyazma, Mikhail Bulgakov worked as a doctor. In 2012, the Bogoroditskoye Field Military History Museum was opened in a renovated wing of the XVIII century. It witnessed the fierce battles of the Red Army soldiers with the Nazi invaders.
The museum's exposition consists of two sections: "In the forty-first near Vyazma" and "The forty-first year is holy only to them, without them the forty-fifth would not have come."
The exposition is based on Soviet and German documents, maps, photographs telling about the battles from October 2 to October 14, 1941, personal belongings of soldiers and commanders found at the battlefields, models of small arms of the opposing sides.
