The history of the central shopping street of Kazan lasts for many centuries, during which it has repeatedly changed its name. During the time of the Kazan Khans, it was called Nogai Road, and when Ivan the Terrible's troops stormed the Kazan Kremlin, blowing up its walls, the street was renamed Prolomnaya, leaving the memory of this event for several centuries. There are many architectural monuments here and each building has its own amazing history! You will definitely see:
Gabdulla Tukai Square and the bell tower of the Church of the Epiphany;
the building of the State Bank, where the gold reserve of Tsarist Russia was stored during the Civil War of 1918;
Peter and Paul Cathedral with a 7-tiered iconostasis, which is rightfully the most striking example of Russian Baroque of the Peter the Great era in all of Russia (!);
an exact replica of Catherine II's carriage and many small architectural forms reflecting the originality of the Kazan land.
An excursion to the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve is the living heart of the ancient city, which has experienced more than one exciting event in its centuries–old history! Originated as a Bulgarian fortress in the 12th century, along with its mighty lords, it has changed its appearance more than once and today is a unique complex of architectural, archaeological and historical monuments that reveal the centuries-old history of the city.
On the territory of the museum-reserve, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, you will see:
Kul Sharif Mosque and Annunciation Cathedral;
The Spasskaya Tower, erected by Postnik Yakovlev and Ivan Shiryai, builders of St. Basil's Cathedral;
The ceremonial Residence of the President and the leaning Tower of Syuyumbike.

Cheboksary — the cultural, scientific and industrial center of the Chuvash Republic— is located in the heart of the Volga region! Founded by order of Ivan the Terrible as a fortress on the site of ancient Bulgarian settlements, the city eventually turned into a major shopping center. Merchants built rich estates, trading houses and majestic temples, and residents of villages and townships developed folk crafts and crafts in their own way. Centuries have passed since then, but the Chuvash people do not forget their origins and carefully preserve culture and customs. As was the custom in ancient times, locals greet guests in national costumes with a welcome song, bread and salt and a spiritual aura that you will remember for a long time!
During the tour you will see:
beautiful embankments of the Volga and Cheboksary, along which the city stretches;
the famous "Road to the Temple", on which the Orthodox pearls of the city are located – the Assumption Church, the Vedensky Cathedral and the Holy Trinity Monastery;

Beer is a traditional drink of the Chuvash people who know a lot about beer art, because 90% of Russian hops grow on the territory of this republic! The museum, small by modern standards, but very cozy, contains a huge number of exhibits telling the history of brewing from ancient times to the present. A collection of 19th century beer bottles, mugs, labels, corks and beardekels will amaze a seasoned traveler!

The Chuvash National Museum is the main repository of historical and cultural monuments of the Chuvash people. By visiting the museum, you will learn the history of the formation of Volga Bulgaria, which formerly included Chuvashia.
Among the rare exhibits is the tombstone of a military commander with Arabic script. A.A. Trofimov, N. I. Ashmarin and other ethnographers were able to decipher these inscriptions.
The museum also features a loom and a mock-up of a kiln for burning dishes.
A unique part of the collection is a model of the Cheboksary fortress of the XVI century, as well as Chuvash, Tatar, Mari and Russian folk costumes.

In 1613, monk Filaret settled in a remote protected forest on the shore of Lake Sumy, seeking solitude and silence for grace-filled prayer. The indigenous inhabitants of Cheremisa have considered this place sacred from time immemorial and came here to sacrifice to their pagan gods. But the power of the hermit monk's prayer turned these places into a stronghold of the Orthodox faith, which fills every stone of the monastery with its grace to this day!
