It is the official residence of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan and the state museum-Reserve, which is visited annually by thousands of tourists.
The white–stone Kremlin is the heart of the ancient city, embodying the culture of the West and the east. The minarets of the main mosque of the city of Kul Sharif soared up here (visit) and the domes of the oldest Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation sparkle with gold.
On the territory of the fortress there is one of the symbols of Kazan – the famous "leaning" tower of Hanshi Suyumbike.

Sviyazhsk, an ancient fortress built during the reign of Ivan the Terrible, served as a military outpost in the Volga region and a training ground for military units to march on the impregnable fortress of Kazan.
The fortress was built in Uglich, then dismantled, floated down the Volga and assembled on the island.
The tour itinerary in Sviyazhsk includes unique historical monuments: the Cathedral of Our Lady "Joy of All the Sorrowful", one of the oldest wooden churches in Russia – the Church of the Holy Trinity.
