Tutaev is not one, but two cities separated by the Volga River.

For many centuries, the two settlements on the two shores were independent of each other, having their own structure.

Romanov is on the left, Borisoglebsk is on the right. Tutaev levoberezhny and Tutaev pravoberezhny are two big differences.

The Volga River, which divided the city into two parts, became the border between the merchant, pre—revolutionary, frozen in the 19th century city on one side and the industrial, worker, Soviet city on the other. The difference is felt in everything: in the architecture of buildings, in the layout of streets, even in the behavior and lifestyle of residents.

10:00 Walk along Kustodievsky Boulevard.

The territory of the Volga embankment was named Kustodievsky Boulevard, named after the artist Boris Mikhailovich Kustodiev, who visited our city and praised the Volga city in his paintings. The beauty of the left-bank part of the city captivated the famous Russian artist.

It was here, in the town of Hopylevo, that the future naval commander was baptized in the local church of the Epiphany on the Island. His parents, Fyodor and Paraskeva, are also buried here.

The great Alexander Nevsky and the Russian Fleet were born here. It was on Lake Pleshcheyevo that Peter the Great built his first funny flotilla.

11:00 Sightseeing tour of the city with a walk along the Red Square, where the oldest city church, the Transfiguration Cathedral, is located. Once upon a time, decrees were announced in this historical place, the Pereslavl princes were "put on the table" and shelves were assembled.

The museum tells the story of a unique grouse fish, which adorns the coat of arms of the city of Pereslavl-Zalessky. During the tour, you can find out why the grouse is called "royal herring", as well as how it was extracted, how it was salted and harvested for future use.
