Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Arrival in Gorno-Altaysk. The first acquaintance with the Altai Mountains

Our journey will begin with the amazing village of Askat, a real pearl of the Altai Mountains, where a century—old history of hospitality is intertwined with the pristine beauty of nature.

It was from here, from this fertile corner, that travelers began exploring the unique charm of the Altai expanses more than a century ago.

Then we will see the legendary island of Patmos, the pearl of Altai, towering over the stormy Katun River.

The way to it lies through a suspension bridge with spectacular views.

Here, in the peaceful atmosphere of St. John the Evangelist Church, time slows down.

Each stone holds a story, and a special atmosphere of spirituality and harmony envelops each guest.

We will continue our journey by walking along the Goat Path, admiring the breathtaking views of the Katun River, which flows majestically between the rock giants — the "Gates of Sartakpai".

Let's admire the amazing sight of the confluence of two mountain rivers — Katun and Chemala, creating a unique natural masterpiece.

The surprise of the day is a bonus location!

We will take a look into a secluded corner of nature, where you can relax from the hiking trails and enjoy the grandeur of the Altai landscapes.

The highlight of the day will be a visit to the traditional village, a sacred dwelling where ancient customs come to life.

In an atmosphere of authenticity and warmth, we will touch the ancient traditions of the Altai people, discover the secrets of the national cuisine and plunge into the unique atmosphere of hospitality.

Impressions of the day: Askat art village; ethno village; national cuisine; St. John the Theologian Church on the islandPatmos; confluence of Chemal and Katun.

Difficulty of the day: Goat trail, 1 km — rough terrain, height difference — 200 m.
