Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Arrival at Solovki. Tour of the Solovetsky Monastery. Bolshoy Zayatsky Island

08:00 Departure from Rabochiostrovsk by boat.

    10:00 Arrival at Solovki.

Transfer to the hotel. We leave our things.

10:45 Group sightseeing tour of the Solovetsky Monastery (2.5 hours).

The history of the Solovetsky Monastery is long and amazing. The thread stretches back to 1429, when, in search of solitude, two elders Savvaty and Herman arrived on an uninhabited island and set up a cell.

Century after century, the monastery grew, changed, strengthened with stone and prayers, served as a church prison, and became overgrown with legends. In 1920, the Solovetsky camp was located within its walls, and the monastery was officially revived only 70 years later.

We will visit the territory of the central complex of the monastery, active temples, monuments included in the UNESCO List, objects of economic activity and learn more about this difficult history.

Lunch at a cafe, check-in at the hotel.

Sea tour of the sights of Bolshoy Zayatsky Island (3 hours).

Zayatsky Island is special even in the list of Solovetsky Islands, nature has arranged a virgin corner here: it has spread a delicate floral and berry carpet, placed dancing birches and gray glacial boulders.

There is a special atmosphere of immense tranquility and many unique monuments here: the largest pagan sanctuary of the II–I millennia BC, spirals of labyrinths, boulder piles, Russia's first stone harbor and the three-hundred-year-old St. Andrew's Church, the beginning of the "Sovereign Road" of Peter I and many others.

    Free time.

    Dinner on your own.

Good afternoon! We were on the "Northern Lights Hunt" tour in Arkhangelsk from March 2 to 5. Overall, everything was very well organized, and we would especially like to thank our guide Marina for the informative excursions and her warm, caring attitude toward us throughout the trip. Unfortunately, because of the weather, we didn’t get a chance to see the Northern Lights, which was a bit disappointing. Still, thank you very much for the wonderful trip and the excellent organization.

I really enjoyed the trip—thanks to the tour managers! Everything was well-organized and clearly planned. I especially appreciated how quickly they responded to any questions I had and explained everything patiently. Even though I was traveling solo, all the excursions felt lively and engaging. It was a bit disappointing that the last tour was canceled, but I appreciated the advance notice, which gave me the chance to arrange a visit on my own. I’ll definitely recommend you!
