Itinerary

Day 1 - Ivolginsky Datsan tour. Meeting with Lake Baikal
You will be met at the airport in Ulan-Ude by our guide at 9:00 (guests get to the meeting place on their own, they do not pick up from the hotels).
We recommend dressing warmly. Be sure to bring warm shoes and clothes (even if the forecast is 0 degrees).
Transfer to the center of Buddhism in Russia – Ivolginsky datsan.
Ivolginsky Datsan tour.
Today it is a huge complex with several temples.
Transfer to Ulan-Ude.
We briefly got acquainted with its historical center, and then we go to a cafe of national cuisine.
We try Buryat cuisine (we pay on the spot on our own).
Departure to Lake Baikal to the village of Maximikha or Ust-Barguzin.
During the journey, we stop and inspect the ice in the form of pyramids and volcanoes.
This can only be seen from the Eastern side of Lake Baikal.

Day 2 - Swimming in the hot springs of the Chivyrkuy Bay
Breakfast at the hotel.
A unique day awaits us today.
We will see the most picturesque caves on Lake Baikal.
In addition, swimming in hot springs awaits us.

Boarding the UAZ cars (they are the only ones that will take us to the hot springs and caves of the Chivyrkuy Bay).
Our road goes to the Holy Nose Peninsula, which is located in the Trans-Baikal National Park.
We go out on the ice, explore interesting and picturesque places.
And they will definitely be there — these are grottos and huge ice on the rocks.
And for the most delicious – swimming in hot springs (not included in the price).

Day 3 - Transfer across Lake Baikal to Olkhon Island. Sightseeing of beauty and attractions
Breakfast.
Today we are going through Lake Baikal!
We will definitely stop at the mark of the largest depth of the lake.
Baikal awaits us to the horizon with its ice and hummocks.
First, we move along the Barguzin Bay.
To our right is the Holy Nose Peninsula.
From the Lower headboard, we take the Olkhon course.
Lunch in the form of a picnic on the ice of Lake Baikal.
We admire the ice on Cape Khoboy and its grotto.
We take wonderful photos and move towards the village of Khuzhir.

Day 4 - Group transfer to Listvyanka
After a delicious breakfast, we leave Olkhon Island by minibus and head along the road to Listvyanka village.
Group transfer.
The road goes along the island with an exit to the ice of Lake Baikal.
Every year, a road is laid here on the ice, which connects Olkhon with the mainland.
Our way further lies among the Tajeran steppes.
On the way, we will make a stop to try the Buryat cuisine again (payment is made on the spot).
Our road passes through Irkutsk, this is our first acquaintance with the city.
But we will come back here, and for now our way lies to where the only river flows from, this is the daughter of Lake Baikal, the Angara.

Day 5 - Rest in Sandy Bay
After breakfast, we set off on a trip across the ice of Lake Baikal on a hovercraft called "Khivus".
On this day, you will drive from Listvyanka village along the famous and very picturesque Sandy Bay, past the villages of Bolshye Koty, Bolshoe Goloustnoye and Skriper Rocks.

We recommend that you take dresses and dress up in the brightest clothes to make unique shots of your stay on the ice of Lake Baikal.

Day 6 - Excursion to the Baikal Museum. Transfer to Irkutsk
Breakfast.
Packing up, moving to Irkutsk.
Visit to the Baikal Museum.
You will get acquainted with all the inhabitants of Lake Baikal in the Limnological Museum, the staff will tell you everything about Lake Baikal in detail.
Moving to the snowmobiles.
Riding snowmobiles with an instructor on the highway.
As a rule, 1-2 people each.
Others who don't really like snowmobiling can sit in a cafe and have a bite to eat.
After racing on snowmobiles, we get back into the minibus and drive to the fish market.
We buy souvenirs and fish at home.
Lunch at a cafe (payment is made on site), and then we go for a ride on a dog sled (we try to drive a small circle).
Transfer to Irkutsk.
Check-in at the hotel.
In the evening we have dinner in honor of the completion of the program (payment on the spot).

A sweatshirt, fleece, etc. (preferably made of modern materials).
Storm suit – jacket + trousers. Availability is mandatory. The jacket is insulated with a hood. Trousers – protection from wind and moisture. You can use a ski suit.
Simple (or tracking) socks — 2 pairs.
Wool socks (trekking, insulated).
Shoes (trekking boots or other warm boots with a warm insole, without high heels, boots).
Slippers;

Trekking poles are recommended only for hiking routes, combined at the discretion of the participants.
Warm sports cap — 2 pcs.

Note: if special equipment is not included in the price of the tour, it can be rented from the company by informing your manager in advance. Equipment rental is only and strictly for all days of the tour. It is taken at the beginning of the tour and surrendered at the end. The cost per day of multiplication for all days, regardless of whether it was used or not, is non-refundable.

Important! It is mandatory to have the following documents on the entire route: a passport, a compulsory medical insurance policy, and a birth certificate for the child.

The requirement for a set of "personal belongings" is nothing superfluous and heavy!

If you have extra things or a suitcase, then you decide on your own where to leave it (luggage storage). The organizers do not store things.

In winter and spring during the tours. The days are usually sunny. During the day from 0 to -10, at night to -20-30. The sun is very bright.

Rules of conduct

We do not recommend drinking alcoholic beverages before and during the tour. Tourists must follow the rules of personal safety, strictly follow the recommendations of the accompanying persons and not endanger their lives and the lives of others.

During the trip, it is necessary to take care of the equipment of hotels and catering facilities, vehicles, as well as natural, historical and cultural monuments.

Meeting of tourists

Upon arrival at the railway station/airport at the meeting point of the group, it is necessary to check in with a representative of the host party, who will indicate the location of the bus. At the place of accommodation, you will be presented with a program of stay for the entire period of service (the order of accommodation, meals, a list of excursions, the schedule of transport), as well as a program for the day of arrival. You should check with your tour guide the address of the accommodation and the number (type) of transport by which you can get to the accommodation.

Accommodation in hotels

Economy class sightseeing tours, therefore, are designed for tourists to stay in tourist-class hotels, however, all hotels offered for accommodation have the appropriate certificates and licenses confirming the right to provide hotel services.

Food

Meals on the routes are organized in cafes or restaurants that also have the appropriate certificates and licenses. Sometimes, based on the conditions of the route, lunch can be a dry ration.

Security during programs

Safety instructions are provided by the guides immediately before entering the active part of the excursions. It is necessary to comply with the requirements of the instructions and to exercise personal caution. From each point of the routes, you can get to settlements in the shortest possible time, almost everywhere there is a mobile connection. In case of minor injuries, bus drivers have a first aid kit.

Each participant of the tour can independently insure themselves before the trip.

Crossings by off-road vehicles, buses and hovercraft. The transfer is carried out by jeeps on day 1, on day 2 (if there is solid ice), on day 4.

All crossings along Lake Baikal or across Lake Baikal are carried out on special transport, it is provided by the company on request. Regular buses also operate in the region, mainly departing from two places: from the bus station and from the city center. Minibuses are delivered from the forecourt to anywhere in the city, as well as to coastal settlements on Lake Baikal.

The most comprehensive winter Baikal tour I found online, from Buryatia to Irkutsk, covering both the eastern and western shores, as well as Olkhon. I’d definitely recommend adding an extra day or two on Olkhon to fully enjoy the experience.
