We will also go to Ogoy Island to the Buddhist Stupa of Enlightenment and make our most cherished wishes there.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Meeting in Irkutsk. We are going to Lake Baikal
We meet at or near the airport, load up for a transfer and are already looking forward to meeting with the majestic Lake Baikal.
Today we will see him and even have time to walk on his ice.
But be a little patient, as we are waiting for the longest transfer on this tour, we will go towards the village of Sakhyurt, where we will stay for the next 3 nights.
The transfer takes about 5 hours with a stop for lunch at a cafe, with a walk to the monument of the Tramp, located at the view point of our path.
We'll be there at lunch, check in, have a snack, get to know each other and go for a walk on the ice.
Today, the walking program is not very big, since we will need to have a good rest and go to bed early from the road and from the time zone change, but we will definitely have time to check the thickness of Lake Baikal and take cool photos.
The transfer takes 5 hours.

Day 2 - A walk to the Big Olkhon Gate, ice skating
A big tracking is planned today.
For small children, be sure to take a carrying backpack or a cheesecake (there will also be our "duty cheesecake").
We get up early, have a good breakfast and go on the route.
Along the way, we are waiting for the most "large-scale" open areas of ice, real space and power.
You can walk to one of the cracks and admire the hummocks.
It is here, in the strait, that we recommend ice skating, if you have planned and know how.
You can rent skates at the base in Sakhyurt (we will help you book the necessary sizes in advance).
If time and weather permit, we will be able to walk to Olkhon Island (on the opposite side of the strait) and climb the mountain, which offers simply breathtaking views of the rugged shores of Lake Baikal.
It won't be easy to climb, but it's definitely worth it!
In the evening, socializing, games, local legends and delicious herbal tea in a cozy company.

Day 3 - A walk to the bubbles and to Cape Mare's Head
Yes, today we have a special tracking for bubbles.
We know where those methane bubbles frozen in the ice of Lake Baikal are more likely to be seen.
Let's go there, in search of it.
The sight is amazing, the photos are amazing, the children are happy.
After that, if there is a desire, we will reach another top place - Cape Mare's Head.
By the way, there are often the most huge and bizarre splashes on the rocks (frozen splashes from the waves).
But the children here will like the icy passage between the rocks.
A light walk of up to 10 km.

Day 4 - Transfer to Khuzhir via Ogoy Island
In the morning we have breakfast at the base, pack our things and send them to live on Olkhon Island in the village of Khuzhir.
The transfer will be short, right on the ice of Lake Baikal, along the ice road.
It will be amazing to look at the frozen road signs, as well as to shake on the hummocks.
We will make a walking stop at Ogoy Island, where we will climb to the Buddhist Stupa of Enlightenment.
There you can make a wish according to all the canons and again admire the beauty around, the stupa is located on the top of the mountain.
Upon arrival, we check in and go to lunch at a cafe.
We will walk to Cape Barkhan at sunset and tie ribbons on the famous pillars of Serge.
Evening legends of Lake Baikal, a delicious hearty dinner, creativity and impressions.
It's going to be a busy day.
The transfer will take no more than 2 hours.

Day 5 - A walk through Khuzhir. Ethnic village and free software
We get acquainted with the Buryat culture and go to attend the program in the ethnic village, where they will tell us about customs and traditions and conduct an interesting interactive program.
After that, we will go to have lunch in a cafe - it's time to try various national dishes in Khuzhir.
After resting, we go for a walk or to the festival of ice figures (depending on the dates of departure), or to the island of Kharants, where huge ice caves usually form (an ideal place for photo shoots).
By the way, you can ride a bike to the island, there are rental cars in Khuzhir, but it is worth considering the "road" situation.
If there is a lot of snow, the road along Lake Baikal will be one and you will have to ride bicycles on the same road with cars, you will often avoid cars and sightseeing "loaves", but with a small amount of snow, you can go anywhere the pleasure of such a trip will be much greater.
On the way to the grottoes, we will also look at the Shamanka rock, show where the dragon hid there, take a walk through a small cemetery of ships.
And in the evening it will be possible to arrange a bathhouse if desired.

Day 6 - Excursion to Cape Khoboy
So we waited.
The culmination of our trip is a trip to the edge of Olkhon Island - Cape Khoboy.
Many legends are associated with this place.
The view of the confluence of the Small and Large Seas of Lake Baikal will cause a lot of emotions.
We will climb to the very edge of this cape.
They will take us there on loaves, feed us delicious fish soup for lunch, on the way we will stop at the monument to the "Keeper of Lake Baikal" and, of course, make a wish again.
All dreams on Lake Baikal will come true!
When we get back, we'll run off to buy souvenirs, and in the evening after dinner we'll get together and summarize our trip.
We're going to Irkutsk tomorrow.

Day 7 - Departure day
For those who are not enough, and who want more, you can go on a small dawn tour to the opposite side of Olkhon Island, to Uzuri (paid separately).
You will have to get up early, but there will be an opportunity both to skate (again) and to see hummocks above human height, the cracks here, of course, are impressive.
We will go back to Irkutsk after everyone returns from Uzura.
The transfer will be about 5 hours again, but, again, with stops.
We recommend that you do not fly home that day, but stay a little longer in Irkutsk itself and take a little walk here.

It's important to know

We will live in a warm house, and we will arrive there on a transfer, so we will not have to carry heavy loads much. Think over sets of clothes for home and for active walks in winter. On this trip, you can play it safe and take extra (!). And be sure to have a backpack for radial walks, which will fit additional warm and replaceable items, a thermos with hot tea and a container with a snack. For small children, we recommend thinking about a "vehicle": a cheesecake, a folding sleigh. But there will also be a "cheesecake on duty" at the exit. You are carrying only your own belongings, we will deliver all public equipment for you ourselves.
