Itinerary

Day 1 - Getting to know Irkutsk
In the morning at 09:30 we meet at the airport or at the Irkutsk railway station, get our luggage, get acquainted.

Then we go on a sightseeing tour of the city.

The program includes visits to the main attractions of Irkutsk: the place of the city's foundation, the Moscow Gate, the Church of the Savior, the embankment of the Angara River, the historical quarter.

On this day, an independent visit to the Decembrist Museum and the nerpinary is possible.

Day 2 - Circum-Baikal Railway
After breakfast, departure for the excursion "Circum-Baikal Railway".
KBZHD is called the "golden buckle" of the Russian steel belt, it was built back in tsarist times and is rightfully the most beautiful and most expensive railway in Russia.
You will see unique architectural structures, tunnels and stone galleries and, of course, incomparable views of Lake Baikal.
Arrival in Irkutsk in the evening.
Transfer to the hotels.
Food: breakfast and lunch.

Day 3 - Cape Burkhan
In the morning we take minibuses to Olkhon, the largest and most beautiful island of Lake Baikal.
The journey time will take 6-7 hours.
After passing through the Olkhon Gate Strait by ferry, we find ourselves on the island.
Another 35 km of the way and we are on the spot – in the village of Khuzhir – this is the tourist capital of the island.
Accommodation at the hotel.
Sightseeing tour to Cape Burkhan (Shamanka rock) – which is considered sacred for the indigenous inhabitants of Olkhon – Buryat island.
Food: breakfast and dinner.

Day 4 - Excursion to Cape Khoboy
We have breakfast and are going on an excursion.
Today you will have a trip to the northernmost point of the island – Cape Khoboy.
The tour will allow you to see all the natural landscapes of the island: from rocky cliffs and boulders to sand dunes and stilt trees.
Once on Khoboy, you will understand how big and beautiful Lake Baikal is, because there will be endless expanses of water around you that merge with the horizon.
Khoboy has been revered by locals since ancient times and is considered a holy place, so you should not take any objects, move stones and shout loudly here.
After lunch, we go to Cape Shunte, or as it is popularly called Cape of Love.
The guide will tell you where this name came from.
Return to the base.
Supper.
Food: breakfast, lunch, picnic and dinner.

Day 5 - Excursion to the South of the island
Breakfast at the base.
Departure for the tour.
Today you will go to the picturesque southern part of the island, which offers magnificent panoramas of the Great Baikal.
On the way back, you will visit the south of the island at Cape Khorgoe.
There is an archaeological monument on the cape – the ancient Kurykan wall, which stretches along the entire isthmus of the cape.
It is still unknown for what purpose this wall was built.
Some archaeologists believe that the structure protected Kurykan from the raids of nomads, while others suggest that sacrificial rites were performed here and came into contact with spirits.
Picnic in nature.
Food: breakfast, lunch, picnic and dinner.

Day 6 - Irkutsk
Your tour to Lake Baikal has come to an end.
After breakfast, we take a minibus to Irkutsk (Kirov Square – approximate arrival from 16:00 to 19:00).
Lunch at a roadside cafe on your own.
Accommodation in Irkutsk hotels by prior request.
Meals: breakfast.

Everything was perfectly organized, and the itinerary was very well planned – from transfers and accommodations to the excursions themselves. I especially enjoyed the trip along the Circum-Baikal Railway, Listvyanka, and the enchanting Olkhon Island. Plus, we were lucky with the weather: we encountered heavy rain only when leaving Irkutsk; the rest of the time was dry and sunny. Our guide Alexander was wonderful and attentive. We learned so many new things and even took a swim in Lake Baikal!
