Light trekking with accommodation in tents in Damkhurts, an amazing corner of the Western Caucasus, which is located in the gorge of the Bolshaya Laba River. Its closest neighbor is the well—known Arkhyz resort.

Damhurz is still little known, which means that the places here are quiet and there are very few tourists. The location is beautiful and very far from the hustle and bustle of civilization. If you want to take a break from the noise of big cities for a week, you definitely need to come here: look at the green mountains covered with fir trees, admire the gorgeous waterfalls, strain yourself to climb to the mountain lakes and Zakan Peak, and relax by relaxing on the banks of a mountain river.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival. Bolshaya Laba River gorge, village Damhurts
11:30-12:00 Gathering of the group at the railway station and at the airport in Mineralnye Vody.
Damhurz is located high in the mountains!
To get here, we will need to travel part of the way by minibus (about 3-3.5 hours), and then transfer to mountain transport (travel about 2 hours).
In the late afternoon we will arrive in the gorge of the Bolshaya Laba and Damhurts rivers, on the banks of which our village is located.
As far as the eye can see, there will be mountains, mountains, and mountains all around us!
We will spend a week of rest in this beautiful place.
Active part: 1.5 km on foot.

Day 2 - The peak is closed
Teschin Tooth or Zakan Peak is a very spectacular local peak.
We are going to the Imereti gorge to see it.
It's not a very long mileage today, but you need to go up all the time, and down after lunch.
Therefore, trekking poles are very useful.
The route starts in the forest area, we will walk through the coniferous forest and reach the first observation deck.
There are benches and a table here.
From here you can see the valley of the Imeretinka River, and somewhere in the distance a waterfall glitters.
And on the other side there is a view of the Bolshaya Laba River gorge.
Let's move on!
The path will pass through a deciduous forest and gradually enter the area of alpine meadows.
In summer, yellow lilies and stunning white rose hips delight the eye here.
Soon we will climb to the bridge, from where our final destination will be visible — the main observation deck on Zakan Peak.
At this point, we will be much higher than the forest zone and nothing will block our view.
And the panoramas here are great!
After overcoming the last climb, we will find ourselves on the observation deck, which offers the most coveted view of Zakan Peak.

Day 3 - Mamhurts Lakes
It is always pleasant to climb to the mountain lake.
Can you imagine how great it is if there are as many as 7 of these lakes?
Yes, yes, yes, we're talking about Lake Mamhurts right now!
The magnificent beauty of the lake lies on the Makera mountain range.
They lie in exquisite stone bowls and are just waiting to show off their beauty to tourists!

Day 4 - Dvoozerye under Shkhuanta Mountain
We all love mountain lakes.
Especially when they are picturesque and interesting in shape!
Today we will see exactly such reservoirs!
At the beginning of the day, we will climb, which will later change to a more gentle path along the Zagedanka River gorge.
There is beauty all around: wild mountain ranges, rare trees and endless expanse!
These places are beautiful because there are very few tourists here and there is an opportunity to be alone.
At the end of the route, lakes are waiting for us, which lie at the foot of Mount Shkhuanta.
They are truly beautiful!!
It's a long way to get here, of course.
But these lakes are definitely worth it!

Day 5 - Damhurts River Gorge Waterfall
Today is an easy day, you need to take a break from previous exploits.
Let's go on a route that runs through the gorge of the Damhurts River.
There is a small waterfall on one of the streams.
We will go out to the Damhurts River, sometimes it makes very beautiful spills, where it is pleasant to relax.

Day 6 - Tamara Waterfall, Black Lake, Sancharo Waterfalls
It's a long way to get here, so we'll take a mountain transport in the morning.
Today we will see 3 interesting locations, the first of them is Tamara Waterfall.
A forest path will lead us to this beautiful stream.
In sunny weather, rainbows are born near the waterfall.
Ferns and other strange plants bloom around the eye.
After admiring the waterfall, let's go to the Black Lake.
This is a large, beautiful lake that is located in a wooded area.
Trees lean towards the water surface, with mighty mountains rising behind them.
Although the lake is called Black, in reality they are dark green in color.
Tamara Waterfall and Black Lake were a warm-up, the main highlight of the day is still ahead of us!
Then we continue our way to the Sancharo waterfalls.
We will walk along the picturesque valley of the Sancharo River, and come to the first waterfall.
This is a large, full-flowing stream, near which spectacular photos are always obtained.
But we need to go up a little more.
And there are waterfalls here, which in our personal rating are definitely among the TOP 10 most picturesque waterfalls in the Caucasus!
At this point, the Sancharo River runs fast, rests against a rock and shoots out in powerful streams from its two sides!
There is a lot of water and an azure bath immediately forms at the foot of the cliff.
This place will have one of the most beautiful dinners in your tourist life.

The route runs at an altitude of 1160-2400 m.

Route length: 69.7 km.

Age limit: from 8 to 60 years old.

The route is trekking and involves walking through mountainous (rough) terrain. This type of outdoor activity involves daily climbing and dropping heights (ascents and descents).

The route passes through forest trails, dirt roads, alpine meadows, large and small stones. There will be a daily elevation difference of 200 to 400 m along the routes, and two days of elevation differences of 880 m.

Climbing 400-800 m is about the same as climbing 130-260 floors.

Please note the rules for choosing clothes for a trip: in the Caucasus, you can wear trousers and T-shirts. You should not take shorts and T-shirts for a trip to the Caucasus.
