The edge of the earth is Chukotka. Tour exploration

After breakfast, the airport is waiting for us again, we fly to the village of Lawrence. 

Upon arrival, transfer and accommodation in glamping, lunch. 

On the way to the base, we will make stops, enjoy and photograph the fascinating Chukchi tundra. 

Glamping is located on the Lorin hot springs. 

Mineral springs with equipped fonts and a water temperature of about 40 ° C have not only a relaxing, but also a healing effect. 

The springs got their name thanks to the village of Lorino, the largest national village in Chukotka, 90% of which are Chukchi, who are still engaged in traditional crafts: hunting, fishing, reindeer husbandry and bone carving. 

After rest and lunch, we will add activity and go for a walk through the expanses of the tundra to the town of Vychgynai (12 km). 

In the evening, we return to the base, have dinner and enjoy relaxing in the hot springs.

After breakfast, we will have a sea crossing to Cape Dezhnev, the easternmost point not only in Russia, but also in the whole of Eurasia. 

There is a monument to Semyon Dezhnev, a pioneer who proved the existence of a strait between Eurasia and North America, and also established trade with the Chukchi.

An ancient Eskimo whaling settlement, Naukan, is located on the cape. 

The locals were resettled, and now there are ruins of dwellings made of stone, bones and skins, and an ancient cemetery. We will take a walk and at the same time admire the panoramic views of the nearby islands of Ratmanov and Krusenstern.

After lunch, in good weather, we will go along the Bering Strait to the Arctic Ocean, we will reach the village of Uelen. 

The settlement is the easternmost settlement in Russia, in which almost everything is easternmost — from the house to the post office. 

There are only 600 people living here, mostly engaged in whaling, fishing and bone carving. We will go to such a bone-cutting workshop.

It was a very busy day, so we return to glamping, relax and have dinner.

In the morning, we go by boat to explore the territories of the Beringia National Park. 

The National Park represents the whole of Chukotka in miniature: bays and lagoons, fjords and rocky cliffs, picturesque passes, endless tundra, bird bazaars and rookeries of pinnipeds, gray and humpback whales. We will observe all this today. 

The main distinguishing feature of Chukotka is the high natural preservation of all ecosystems, which makes it possible to feel complete unity with nature and feel like a real pioneer.

We will explore the beauty of the national park until the evening, after that we will stay overnight in one of the Chukchi villages, have dinner, and gain strength, because tomorrow we will have an equally eventful day.

After breakfast, we will go to Mechigem Bay, where we will visit the ancient settlement of Masik — the largest and most spectacular on the entire coast of Chukotka. 

A special feature is that the locals used the skull of a gray whale as the main material for construction. And now we can see preserved structures made of skulls and whale bones, which were used as hangers for kayaks, dugouts, pits for storing meat.

But Mechigem Bay is interesting not only for its whaling past. 

Here, in the 19th and 20th centuries, there was a large reindeer herders' camp, traces of which still remind of fishing.

In the evening we return to glamping, relax, swim in the hot springs.

We will get up early and after breakfast we will head to the Gulf of Lawrence to the villages of the past — Pinakul, Nunyamo and Yandagai. 

Once these were settlements where fishing and fishing of marine mammals, including walruses, were conducted. Now there are ruins of settlements, consisting of wooden and bone remains.

If possible, we will cover another village — Akkani. It is also considered abandoned. 

The coast is a walrus rookery, so St. John's wort from neighboring villages actively flock here to hunt. 

In the afternoon we go on an excursion to the bone-cutting workshop in Lorino. Here we will see the processing of the bone and even try to do it ourselves. 

Souvenirs can also be purchased from the master.

We return to glamping in the evening.

Today we say goodbye to Lorino. 

We are going to the Lawrence Airport, a two-hour flight to Anadyr awaits us. 

Next, we overcome the already famous Anadyr estuary and check into a hotel, have lunch and relax.

In the afternoon, we will take a walk to Mount Camel, the highest point of Anadyr. There is a cross of worship and an observation deck with panoramic views of the city.

In the evening, if possible, we will attend a performance by a folklore ensemble. A perfect end to the day.

We have breakfast and go to the abandoned Gudym military base, a complex of underground buildings dating back to the Cold War with a length of almost 1 km. 

In the past, it was a top-secret facility where nuclear weapons were stored. Even those who guarded it did not know what exactly was inside. 

It is noteworthy that Gudym was located as close as possible to a potential enemy — only 200 kilometers away. 

At the end of the 20th century, the tension between the warring parties subsided. The military abandoned the base, but did not completely destroy it, the place became a real open-air museum.

In the evening we will return to Anadyr and arrange a final dinner, share our impressions of our trip.

Today we say goodbye to Chukotka. 

Flight home. 

In the morning, you will have the opportunity to stroll through souvenir and fish shops.
