Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival. Sulak Canyon and Sarykum Dune
We meet the group at the Uytash airport in Makhachkala (before 12:00 Moscow time) and move towards the Sulak Canyon.
We make our first stop at the Chirkeysky reservoir.
Boating on the Chirkeysky reservoir.
There you will begin to enthusiastically fill your photo album dedicated to Dagestan with many beautiful views of untouched nature.
After that, we will climb to the observation deck "Dubki" (the height at the highest point is 1920 meters above sea level) and enjoy the views of the precious pearl of Dagestan — Sulak Canyon from an eagle's eye view.
Next, we will have a delicious lunch with freshly caught trout in the restaurant of the Glavryba eco-complex.
After a short rest, we go to explore the Sarykum Dune, the amazing and largest sand dune in Europe.
It was here that the legendary film "The White Sun of the Desert" was shot.
Transfer to Makhachkala.

Day 2 - Tobot Waterfall and the Matlas Bowl
Breakfast at the hotel.
Next, we head through the Gimrinsky tunnel (the longest in Russia is 4303 m!) and the beautiful Irganai reservoir to explore the Tsolotl Canyon, which literally splits the Khunzakh plateau in half.
Two waterfalls formed by the rivers Tobot and Itlyatlyar descend into the canyon.
After that, we will visit the Matlas plateau, which is located at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level and the famous Matlas stone bowl — a unique, fantastic place in beauty and energy.
Lunch in the mountains.
Transfer to Derbent.
Overnight at a 3* hotel.

Day 3 - Derbent
The morning starts with breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
Then transfer to the Naryn-Kala Citadel for an excursion and a full immersion in the fascinating history of the fortress.
At the end — a walk through the streetsThe old town (magalam).
You will see the ancient Juma Mosque (recently included in the UNESCO World Heritage List), the Maiden Baths complex.
At the end of the tour, a magnificent national lunch.
After lunch, transfer to the hotel and free time for those who want to walk along the embankment, visit the Derbent market.

Day 4 - Kubachi village
After breakfast, we leave for an excursion to the village of Kubachi, the birthplace of world-famous jewelers and wood carvers.
Silverware is especially popular here, the production of which you can see in person at a master class in the house of one of the locals.
We will have lunch and listen to interesting stories at the Kubachin people's house.
Next, we will go to Kala Koreish, the capital of the largest medieval feudal domain - the Kaitag utsmiystvo.
There are about 8 kilometers between them.
And we will return to Derbent for the night.

Day 5 - Gunib, Choh, Gamsutl
After a hearty breakfast, we go on a tour of the legendary village of Gunib to touch the history associated with the Great Caucasian War.
The picturesque surroundings of Gunib have always inspired artists and poets, for example, Aivazovsky and Gamzatov.
Next, we will visit a natural monument of national importance – the underground Saltinsky waterfall in the period from April 1 to October 1 (from October to April, this tour is not held due to the lack of water).
Then we will drive to the village of Chokh, similar to the Italian Positano.
The traditional architecture of the highlanders is still preserved here, represented by the stepped construction of steep mountain slopes.
We will have lunch with local residents and go to a meeting with the famous village of Gamsutl, located at an altitude of almost 1,500 m.
Those who want to touch the unique aura of an abandoned village will have to hike for almost an hour.
It is impossible to get there by car.
Overnight at the Eagle's Nest recreation center or another in a hospitable guest house, or in a 3* hotel on the plain.

Day 6 - Karadakh gorge, Goor, Kahib
After a delicious breakfast, we go to the Karadakh gorge, popularly called the "Gate of Wonders".
A unique natural monument in rocks from 2 to 5 meters wide and 150 meters high will amaze you with a mixture of horror and admiration.
You will have time to move away from emotions on the way to Kakhib, one of the oldest villages in Dagestan.
The old Kahib-Bakdab and its battle towers date back to the VIII-X centuries.
Old Kahib was known throughout the Caucasus as an impregnable fortress.
Only once did the Tatar-Mongols break through there.
After this sad event, the mountaineers erected watchtowers right over the abyss near the village and only one bridge over the canyon connected Kahib with the world.
Lunch at a party with the highlanders.
Another abandoned village, Goor, is a 15—minute drive away.
30 minutes from the Goor there is a garden with a mountain stream, over which an ancient stone bridge spans.
There is a monument to the history of the IX century, the ancient Datun Church, built by Georgian missionaries.
Return to the Eagle's Nest or another hospitable guest house, or to a 3* hotel on the plain.

Day 7 - Makhachkala, departure
Early breakfast.
Transfer to Makhachkala.
Visit the center of folk arts and crafts, the Juma Mosque, the Tarki-Tau observation deck, the market and get acquainted with the interesting history of the young city (Makhachkala is not even 200 years old).
Transfer to the airport.
Flight home (after 18:00).

The ascent to Gamsutl involves a drop-off by car and a walking route. In the parking lot, local residents provide drop-off services on mountain transport (UAZ, Niva). You can drive by car for about 1.5 km, and at this moment the steepest part of the climb is overcome. The cost of the service is 100-200 rubles / person in one direction. From the car stop, the path to the end of the route will be 1.8 km, the height difference is 1450-1670 m.
