Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Makhachkala, excursion to Sulak canyon and Sarykum dune
Arrival at Makhachkala airport by morning flights.
Departure for a tour of the Sulak Canyon, whose height is 1920 meters.
It is often compared to the Grand Canyon in America; its Dagestani counterpart looks no less impressive, and also has greater depth.
A visit to the observation deck will allow you to fully appreciate the beauty of the canyon and feel its impressive size.

Today you will also see the Sarykum dune, one of the highest in the world.
Its height is more than 250 meters, and the size and shape of the peaks are constantly changing at the will of the winds.
It is estimated to be hundreds of thousands of years old.
The origin of the dune is still a mystery to scientists.

Day 2 - Mountainous Dagestan
Breakfast at the hotel.
VisitingThe Khunzakh plateau is the widest plateau of mountainous Dagestan.
The area is 250 sq. km., the height is 1000-1200 m. above sea level.
The plain is surrounded by high mountain ranges.
The main attraction of the plateau is a canyon with steep edges, into which three mountain rivers fall from a height.
During the rainy season, the waters of these rivers descend into the canyon from a height of 50-80 m in powerful jets and turn into a seething stream, above which white clouds of fine spray rise.
The largest of the waterfalls is the three—stage Tobot, the height reaches 100 m.
You will also visit the Military Fortress in Arani, a powerful fortification during the reign of tsarism in the Caucasus.
At one time, the Russian Emperor Alexander II stayed in this mansion for the night.
The program of the day includes a visit to the Matlas Gorge, cut by undulating ridges.
On its territory there is an observation deck with a small mosque, which offers a magnificent view.

Day 3 - Getting to know Derbent

A trip to the well-known ekranoplane "Lun" - a new attraction in the suburbs of Derbent.

Visit the main attraction — the citadel of Naryn-Kala, an ancient fortress that preserves the former power of the Caspian Gate.
