Itinerary

Day 1 - Sary-kum dune, Sulak Canyon
08:00 Gathering of the group at the railway station of Makhachkala.
The Sary-kum dune, whose length is 12 kilometers, width is 4 kilometers, and height is as much as 252 meters!
The dune is officially recognized as the second largest in the world, giving way to the first place to the dune in the Sahara
On a trip to Dagestan, we will walk barefoot through the golden sands, feel the sand pouring through our fingers and take unique photos in the place where the legendary film "White Sun of the Desert" was shot.
Next, our way lies to the most famous attraction of these places – the Sulak Canyon!
This is the deepest canyon in Europe! Its depth reaches 1,900 meters, which is 60 meters deeper than the Grand Canyon in the USA.
We will visit one of the most successful viewing platforms, standing on which is breathtaking!
There are practically no lakes in this region, but picturesque reservoirs have taken their place.
The Chirkeyskoye reservoir was created in 1974 in a narrow place of the Sulak River, the coastline is indented, because of this, many cozy coves, grottoes and observation decks have formed along the coast.
The active part of the tour to Dagestan: 4.5 km, altitude difference 170-250 m (barkhan Sary-kum).

Day 2 - Khunzakh plateau, "White Cranes", Matlas stone bowl and waterfalls
Our day today is very diverse in landscapes!
We will see the mysterious Matlas Stone Bowl gorge, several waterfalls and a very beautiful memorial complex.
The first location of our trip is the Tobot Waterfall.
He is not alone, he has two 70-meter neighbors!
The waterfall is considered the pearl of the Khunzakh plateau.
The next stop is the White Cranes Memorial Complex.
This is a unique cultural monument that embodies those who died on the fields of all wars for their Fatherland.
It was created in the Homeland of two great poets, father and son – Rasul Gamzatov and Gamzat Tsadas.
Next, we will go for a walk through the dark labyrinths of the Matlas bowl, after which we will visit another picturesque Khan waterfall.

Day 3 - Avar Koisu reservoir, Karadakh gorge, Datun temple. The ancient cities of Kahib and Goor, the Troll language
Breathing the fresh mountain air is very sweet to sleep, but you need to get up early, today is again a busy day in our journey through mountainous Dagestan!
The reservoir on the Avar Koisu River is located among rocks on which small pines and fir trees grow.
The water here is saturated, turquoise in color, the photos are very spectacular!
Further, the path of our organized tour lies in the Karadakh gorge.
This place is called the "Gate of Wonders" – here a quiet whisper turns into an echo, here it seems that the mountains are about to close over your head, and a stream is about to burst out of the bowels of the earth and turn into a stormy river!
Datong Temple.
This ancient Christian shrine is located in a stunningly cozy and beautiful gorge of Dagestan!
The journey from the bus to the temple takes only 7-10 minutes and the whole walking path goes through very picturesque places.
The Datun temple itself is located at the end of the gorge, also surrounded by the mountains of Dagestan.
You can go inside and take beautiful photos through the windows of the temple!

Our path partially passes by the reservoir we love on the Avarskoye Koisu River.
Our next location will not let us relax, we will plunge back into the past – the towers of the village of Stary Kahib, as the most impregnable in the whole Caucasus, remember only one enemy breakthrough.
Kahib's neighbor is the glorious city of Goor.
It boasts picturesque towers, as well as stunning views from a height of the mountainous part of Dagestan!
In the city of Goor we will see the famous Troll Language!
It is a stone ledge, proudly hovering over the abyss.
This place is also called Maiden Rock.
And, of course, there was a legend about the girl.

Day 4 - Aul Choh and the legendary ghost gord Gamsutl
The soul of Dagestan is waiting for us on the tour today.
The name of the village Chokh in Avar means "stop, parking".
We will walk through the narrow old streets, look at the village from the observation deck.
The next stop is the legendary village of Gamsutl, which is often called Dagestan Machu Picchu.
We will go hiking past the spring with delicious water and climb to the ghost village.
In the Avar language, "gamsutl" is translated as "at the foot of the Khan's fortress."
Here, dilapidated houses, not devoid of aesthetic elements, stand on a cliff, any builder would say that it is not realistic to build a house here, but the houses were built and still stand!
And they would have stood without collapsing further if people had not left this place.
Also today we will visit the Andalal Tower near the Gunib reservoir.
If you climb the tower, you will have a beautiful view of the hydroelectric dam and the Gunib reservoir.
The powerful flow of water in the waterfall, which was formed due to the discharge of water from the Gunib reservoir, will force you to take out a camera and capture it!

Day 5 - Saltinsky Waterfall, Gunib Museum, Gunib Fortress
After enjoying the views and history, today we go to the kingdom of water and stone – to the Saltinsky waterfall.
If the water is high, then we put on rubber boots and go to the underground waterfall.
If you went on a tour to Dagestan with your children, they will really like this underground walk!
Also today we will visit a visually very unusual city – Gunib.
It is located in a huge rift of the mountains, as if in a stone bowl.
Gunib will delight us with its spectacular fortress and pleasant museum, where we will learn a lot of interesting things about Dagestan.
Next, we will move to the city of Derbent.

Day 6 - Derbent: Naryn-Kala fortress, a walk through the old town
It is impossible to imagine a trip to Dagestan without visiting one of its main cities!
We are waiting for the hospitable Derbent, whose name means "closed gate" in Persian.
Derbent is considered the oldest and southernmost city in Russia. People lived here even when the world knew nothing about Moscow.
On the site of the preserved Derbent citadel of Naryn-Kala, the first stone fortifications were erected at the turn of the VIII-VII centuries BC.
In the city, we will visit the Naryn-Kala fortress, take a walk around the old town, visit souvenir shops.
We will definitely walk along a cozy pedestrian street
Happy people and let's go to Nizami Ganjavi Park - here we will see a square with a huge fountain and such inviting swings ;).
The cherry on the cake of a multi-day tour of Dagestan will be a walk through the local market.

Day 7 - The Caspian Sea, the Moon ekranoplan. Departure
Today we will visit the Lun ekranoplan.
Active part: 1.5 km.
Transfer to Makhachkala.
The route finishes in Derbent at 10:00 (railway station), Makhachkala at 13:30-14:30 Moscow time (airport, railway station).
Depending on the weather conditions, the physical condition of the participants and other factors, the tour route may be changed.
