The Church in honor of the Introduction of the Virgin is an architectural monument of the beginning of the XX century. It was built according to the project of architect P.G. Begen with funds raised by the townspeople. Patriarch Tikhon served in this church in 1918.
For many years, the state archive was located in the temple. In order to return the temple to the faithful, a hunger strike of 4 female members of the Orthodox community of the Vvedensky Temple continued for 16 days. Thanks to them, in 1990 the church was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church. On April 27, 1991, Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia signed a decree on the establishment of the Holy Vvedensky Convent.
