Day 1 - Arrival. Kaliningrad is the past and the present. Marzipan Museum
Arrival at the airport or railway station in Kaliningrad. Check-in at the hotel after 14:00.
Please note: the program specifies the exact start time of the excursions (local time). Please do not be late, the bus departs according to schedule. Due to the possible traffic congestion, the waiting time for the bus can be 10-15 minutes.

Sightseeing of the main sights and memorable places of the city: the ancient city gates; the main Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Christ the Savior in the region on Victory Square; important public buildings in Konigsberg — railway stations, the land office court, the post office directorate, the drama theater; the zoo; the Church of Queen Louise, which became the regional children's puppet theater, the Amalienau villa area.
A walk on the island part of the city from the Fishing Village to the ancient Cathedral, near the walls of which is the grave of the great son of this city, the philosopher Immanuel Kant.
The main street of Soviet Kaliningrad is Leninsky Prospekt, with the Khrushchev towers and the Mother Russia monument transformed beyond recognition; a panorama of the river with the territory of the Museum of the World Ocean and the stock exchange building, opening from a high trestle bridge.
The tour program includes a visit to the marzipan Museum, a popular sweet in many countries, which had its own recipe in this city and an Amber museum.

Since its foundation in the 13th century, the city has lived for 691 years under the name Konigsberg. It began its history during the Crusades with a fortress castle of the Teutonic Order and, in case of a possible future war, was rebuilt and strengthened in the following centuries.
Since the second half of the 19th century in Europe, Konigsberg has become a fortress city of the first rank.
In today's Kaliningrad, a large number of ancient Konigsberg fortifications have been preserved.
You will have the opportunity to visit one of the forts of the outer defensive belt of the city. You will visit Fort 1, one of the most preserved. After going through its premises, you will learn how such fortresses were built.
The reliability and monumentality of these walls, the thoroughness and thoughtfulness of the citadel to the smallest detail surprise and inspire respect for the military fortification engineers and builders who designed and built such fortresses.
Fortification was considered a separate science, and only a few European countries could boast of their fortification school — Prussia was one of the strongest.
Driving through the streets of Kaliningrad, you will also see the defensive structures of the inner defensive ring: ancient gates, bastions, ramparts, moats, the Kronprinz defensive barracks, the Don and Wrangel towers.
You will also learn how the Red Army stormed the fortress city in April 1945. The complexity of this operation was highly appreciated by the leadership of the Soviet Union and the high command of our troops: a separate medal "For the Capture of Konigsberg" was established.
During the tour, you will learn about the heroism of our soldiers and see the monuments erected in their honor. You will learn about the storming of Konigsberg by visiting the panorama exhibition "Konigsberg 45 — the last Assault" at the Kaliningrad Museum of History and Art.

Day 3 - Curonian Spit National Park and Zelenogradsk Resort Town
The program includes an excursion to the Curonian Spit National Park and the resort town of Zelenogradsk.

The Curonian Spit National Park is an amazingly wonderful place to relax in nature: the purest sea air filled with pine phytoncides, the greenery of the forest and the chirping of birds, the peace of the dune landscape and the vast expanses of the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon.
You will have the opportunity to recharge your health by walking in the Dancing Forest among the magical "dancing" trees, look for amber in the sand by the sea and climb the highest dune — the height of Efa.
The program provides free time for lunch. Lunch is paid for independently.
After that, you will have a walk through the most beautiful resort town of Zelenogradsk. Ancient resort architecture, a special atmosphere of relaxation and pleasure! It's impossible not to fall in love with this city!
They are also very fond of cats here: it all started with the cat museum in the old water tower, and now the city houses are painted with a cat theme, a cute urban sculpture with cats, a cat town with a catfair and, of course, live fuzzies on the streets of the city.
After the tour, in your free time, you can take a walk on the promenade by the sea, climb the observation deck of the water tower (also known as the cat museum) or visit the museum of Resort Fashion (I purchase entrance tickets to museums on my own).
If you don't want to leave, you can stay — it's easy to return to Kaliningrad.
In good weather, Zelenogradsk beach awaits you and a stunning sunset over the sea, which you can admire through the windows of some cafe or restaurant on the promenade (delicious and romantic!)

Day 4 - Insterburg — Chernyakhovsk

The city of Chernyakhovsk traces its history back to the Middle Ages, and the impressive ruins of the Insterburg castle-fortress remind us of the chivalric times. Many famous historical figures of Europe have visited this castle.
Centuries passed, and a beautiful city with presentable residential buildings, majestic churches grew up next to the castle — the Reformed Church (now St. Michael's Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church) in the Neo-Romanesque style and the Catholic church of St. Bruno of Querfurt in the Neo-Gothic style, with unique water towers.
It also features numerous monuments to heroes of different eras: V.I. Lenin, I.D. Chernyakhovsky, M.B. Barclay de Tolly, a Russian soldier from the time of the Napoleonic Wars, a monument to the mass burial of Soviet soldiers, commemorative plaques and a cute modern urban sculpture.

Two of the most beautiful places on the seashore — Yantarny and Svetlogorsk will enchant you and will forever remain in your heart! Places where many people in our country tend to go on vacation.
Yantarny Beach is one of the best in Russia. Since 2016, this has been confirmed annually by awarding it the blue flag (the highest quality mark for beaches). And Svetlogorsk is an All—Russian health resort with a large number of sanatoriums and sanatorium-resort type institutions, where you can combine a vacation by the sea with health improvement.
Yantarny is a place of amber mining, where the world's largest sunstone deposit is located. You will definitely learn all about amber by visiting a private enterprise engaged in stone processing and jewelry production.
You will have the opportunity to purchase amber products where they are produced.
In the past, Yantarny was called Palmniken, a place with a history. You will see the architectural "pearls" that adorn the place: the old Lutheran church (today the Russian Orthodox Church of the Icon of the Kazan Mother of God), the 5* Schloss Hotel building (formerly the home of a wealthy mining owner).
You will go to the sea through the park named after him. Moritz Becker with century-old trees.
Optional visit to the quarry or the museum of the Kaliningrad Amber Plant, tickets are purchased independently (from 900 rubles).
Svetlogorsk is a popular resort town surrounded by greenery, the botanical garden city has preserved its historical buildings with villas and hotels, which are worthily complemented by modern architecture.
During the walking tour, you will see the symbol of the place — the water tower; the fabulous organ hall building (formerly the Catholic chapel "Maria-Star of the Sea"); the larch park with the sculpture of the famous German sculptor G. Brachert "Bearing Water"; the variety theater "Amber Hall" and the huge elevator "Panorama", allowing you to easily descend from the very high shore on the boardwalk.

The city of Baltiysk is a seaside, port city, naval base of the Baltic Fleet. All this determines the flavor and spirit of the place.
You will have the opportunity to walk along the embankment in the historical part of Baltiysk, where ships are moored, and see the oldest operating lighthouse in the Kaliningrad region (1816), a monument to Peter I, the founder of the Baltic Fleet.
The Russian tsar visited here, including the Swedish Fortress, which he later modeled on the Peter and Paul Fortress when founding the northern capital. The building of the old Reformed church, which has now become St. George's Naval Cathedral of the Baltic Fleet, has been preserved.
You will definitely have the opportunity to go to the sea at the monument to the Russian Empress Elizabeth Petrovna.

The "Tourist" Hotel was excellent. It had everything we needed, and the city center was even within walking distance, about 15-30 minutes depending on your pace. The excursions to the towns around Kaliningrad, especially Zelenogradsk and Yantarny, were absolutely wonderful, really interesting, atmospheric, and enjoyable. I’d especially like to mention our guide, Lyudmila. She was friendly, funny, positive, and had a great sense of humor. Her tours were informative and engaging without overwhelming us with too much information. She explained everything in a simple and memorable way - more like: See this building? Here’s why it looks this way and what makes it special. That style made the excursions especially enjoyable. To be honest, the castle tours in Kaliningrad itself were a bit less interesting, since many of the castles are now partly in ruins.
