12:00 p.m. Hurul Shakyusn Xume is the epitome of Kalmyk architecture and Tibetan traditions. The temple is a twenty-meter two-story building with a superstructure in the form of a two-tiered pagoda.
The building was twenty meters long and nineteen meters wide. The central place of the first floor of the Shakyusn-Xume is occupied by an altar and an almost four-meter statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, covered with gold. One of the basic rules of behavior in the temple is not to turn your back to the Buddha, moving in the direction of the Sun.
Khurul is located on the outskirts of the city beyond its borders, on the way to the village of Arshan. The site for the construction was consecrated by the Dalai Lama XIV during his second visit to Kalmykia in 1992, and the temple itself was built in 1996. There is steppe and winds around Shakyusn-Xume, and there are only a few houses nearby where monks live.
