Along the Kaluga highway

On this tour Kaluga will open for you as a scientific and at the same time a religious center.

You will not only walk through the historical sites of the Kaluga region and its capital, which has preserved its identity, but also admire the frescoes in Borovsk, explore the cities of military glory: Maloyaroslavets and Kozelsk. And you will also see space exhibits and, of course, holy places — Optina of Deserts and the largest convent in Europe.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Sightseeing tour of Borovsk and Kaluga, Maloyaroslavets and the Cosmonautics Museum

07:45 Gathering of the group in Moscow: metro station Yugo-Zapadnaya (at the entrance to the restaurant "Tasty and dot" (two-storey building)), in the subway: the last car from the center, after the glass exit doors — left and left (exit to Pokryshkina Street), the guide meets with a sign with the name of the tour).

    08:00 Departure for the tour.

Borovsk. Sightseeing tour of the city, which is famous for its ancient architecture, modern frescoes on the walls of houses and other beauties. In addition, there are many religious shrines and historical sites in this place.

In the 18th century, Borovsk became the scene of the tragedy of the Old Believers. Protopope Avvakum was exiled here, and Boyarina Morozova and her sister Princess Urusova were placed in the Borovsky prison.

St. Paphnutiev Monastery, located near Borovsk. The majestic monastery is a fortress of the 15th century with narrow loophole windows, an example of the defensive architecture of medieval Russia.

Today, this monastery combines a whole complex of church buildings of various styles and times. There is a lot to see here!

Maloyaroslavets is a "City of military glory". Now it is a quiet county town in the Kaluga province, as it has always been. But all its sights persistently remind of the events of 1812 and 1941, for which he received his honorary title.

    Lunch.

    Transfer to Kaluga.

K.E. Tsiolkovsky Museum of the History of Cosmonautics (new building).

An excursion to the world's first and largest space-themed museum in Russia. The museum has the most comprehensive collection of museum objects on cosmonautics in the country, most of which are unique.

The exposition reveals the history of Russian cosmonautics from the first artificial Earth satellite to modern long-term orbital stations.

In addition to the unique exposition, new space-themed monuments are on display, and authentic exhibits that have been on a space flight are of particular value. The scientific legacy of K.E. Tsiolkovsky, the founder of theoretical cosmonautics, is exhaustively presented.

Kaluga. Sightseeing tour of one of the oldest cities in the Russian province, beautiful not only for its location, but also for its historical buildings, architectural monuments, operating temples associated with the stay of many great people of Russia.

Today, the city center is a famous monument of urban planning, as it managed to partially preserve the buildings of the 18th century (charming streets with merchant houses and noble mansions).

    Accommodation at the hotel.

    Dinner on your own.
