Today we will go to the foot of the active volcanoes Avachinskaya and Koryakskaya Sopka. These two giants are the first to greet everyone arriving in Kamchatka.
Our path will run along the bed of a Dry river, along the way we will make several stops for photo shoots. At the base camp, we will be greeted by European greeting cards, they are also Beringian ground squirrels. These are small animals that live in colonies in mountainous areas and at the foot of volcanoes, characterized by a good-natured disposition and excellent appetite.
Avachinsky volcano is quite difficult to climb, only the ascent to the top takes from 5 to 8 hours, or even more, it all depends on general physical fitness and the weather. We're going to Camel Mountain.
This is a mountain of volcanic origin, an extrusion that appeared about 5,000 years ago during the eruption of the Avacha volcano.
Viscous lava was “squeezed out” not from the crater, but from underground, piling up in the form of a dome. Over time, the wind destroyed the rocks, and the top of the mountain became like camel humps, hence the name. Enjoy the beautiful views of the volcanoes on the mountain.
And if the weather and physical condition allow, we will make an impressive ascent to the observation deck of the Avacha volcano, located at an altitude of 2000 meters. At this point there is a bunker with a repeater that transmits data on seismic activity.
In the evening we will return to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and check into a guest house. Rest.
