Family weekend in Dombay

Today you will have a walking tour of the surroundings of the eco-farm.

After breakfast, we go on an excursion to the Cheese Caves.

This cave is made of sandstone and really looks like a porous cheese.

It stretches about ten meters deep and consists of several cavities connected by a natural narrow corridor.

After the caves, we will go down to the Mariinsky Narzan.

This excursion day is dedicated to the two oldest Alan temples, which were built back in the 10th century AD, during the heyday of the Great Alan Empire.

The Sentinsky temple is built on a rocky mountain with a leveled peak above the village of Nizhnyaya Teberda (the ancient name is Senty).

The walls of the Christian shrine, made of sandstone blocks fixed with lime mortar, have preserved traces of frescoes.

There is a stone mausoleum on the territory of the temple, presumably a place for the burial of the highest clergy.

The next temple, the Shoaninsky Cathedral of St. George the Victorious, was built on a spur of Mount Shoana (Sanctuary) near the Ossetian village.

In the evening we return to the hotel and rest.

After breakfast, we will go to Dombai — here it is called the "Heart of the Mountains".

The cable car will take you to the observation deck of the Moussa Achitara mountain. It offers a breathtaking view of the mountains. It is incredibly beautiful here at any time of the year.

From a height of 3,200 m, a panorama opens, the equal of which is difficult to find — such is the splendor of the breathtaking mountain landscapes. The Main Caucasian Ridge is perfectly visible from the slope of Moussa Achitara.

And in the northeast, in clear weather, the main mountain of the Caucasus is visible – the dormant volcano Elbrus. Dombai panoramas are beautiful at any time of the year.

Next, we have the Teberdinsky Biosphere Reserve along the route.

The reserve is home to many representatives of the world of animals and plants, some of which are listed in the Red Book of Russia. For example: bison, Caucasian otter, peregrine falcon, bearded man, swallowtail, Apollo and others.

This concludes your journey through Karachay-Cherkessia. A transfer will take you to the airport/train station in time for your flight.
