A wonderful island. Ladoga Holiday Tour in Karelia

After breakfast, you will find a guided tour deep into the island of Havus.

You will take a nature trail through the Karelian taiga on foot. You will see geological rocks that can be called the "backbone of the earth": a glacier passing through the territory of Ladoga exposed very ancient stone outcrops, which are up to 2.5 billion years old.

The culmination of the route will be the exit to the Haukkariutta rock ("falcon reef").

From a height of more than 40 meters you will have a wonderful view of the Ladoga skerries. A picnic lunch will be organized for you on an equipped playground not far from the cliff.

After the picnic, you will continue your forest walk and participate in an interactive quest dedicated to the traditions of celebrating the New Year in Karelia and other northern regions and countries. You will learn how Santa Claus is called in Karelia and Finland.

In the evening, you will have a dinner from the chef and a story about the traditions of the magical time of Xundu - this is a sacred time when, according to beliefs, everything old dies and a new life begins.

After breakfast, you will embark on a circular airboat route along Lake Ladoga, the largest lake in Europe!

In winter, Ladoga is especially beautiful and often underestimated. Few people have seen Ladoga skerries decorated with a winter blanket.

You will see the famous rocky islands covered with ice splashes, bizarrely shaped by wind and water, as well as several so-called "reef mountains".

Reef hills are called hills that break off into the lake with steep cliffs, the height of which can reach 80 meters.

On the route you will have a hot lunch in nature.

You will return to glamping before dark.

We'll play a quiz game before dinner.

Then dinner from the chef.

Evening leisure in the large dome with board games or watching movies.

After breakfast, you will have time to pack your things.

Before departure, you will have a master class on cooking traditional Karelian pastries - wickets.

A professional chef will share the secrets of dough preparation and proper molding, as well as tell you about the main ingredient of a successful wicket: various filling options.

You will try to cook the wickets yourself and during lunch you will be able to try what happened!

Then lunch at glamping, after which you will take an airboat to the pier in Sortavala, where minibuses will be waiting for you, which will take you to the Ruskeala Mountain Park (1 hour on the way).

Ruskeala marble quarry is a monument of cultural heritage of Russia. Development here began in 1765.

The walls of the famous St. Isaac's Cathedral, Ladozhskaya and Primorskaya metro stations in St. Petersburg are decorated with Ruskeal marble.

The quarry is a huge system of underground tunnels and tunnels connected by vertical shafts.

Most of them were flooded after the Great Patriotic War, and the quarry turned into an amazingly beautiful lake with turquoise-tinged water, the transparency of which reaches 15-18 meters.

After the tour of the mountain park, you will have time to buy souvenirs and head back to Sortavala on the unique Ruskeala Express.

This is a retro tourist train powered by steam locomotives, plying the route of the overland road that transported Ruskeala marble to Lake Ladoga.

The interior of the train is decorated in the style of the interior of the carriage on which Auguste Montferrand, the chief architect of St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg, came to Ruskeala.

After arriving at the station, you will have about an hour of free time before the evening train to Moscow (if you need to go to St. Petersburg, you will also catch the evening Swallow).
