Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Departure to Sortavala. Husky kennel. Korela Fortress Museum

We recommend purchasing train tickets upon arrival in St. Petersburg strictly before 09:00 in the morning.

After meeting at the St. Petersburg railway station, you will take a minibus or a large bus (depending on the size of the group) to the city of Sortavala, visiting iconic natural and historical sites of North Karelia along the way.

Breakfast is not provided, we recommend that you have a snack on the plane or on the train.

The first stop on the route will be the Husky kennel to get acquainted with its main inhabitants — Siberian and Alaskan huskies.

You will be told about the features of sled dog breeds, what they are, and you will learn a lot about the world of sled racing.

During your stay at the kennel, you will complete a 2.5 km dog sledding route as a cabin attendant or honorary passenger.

At the same time, 4-5 sledges enter the route, while the rest of the participants can take pictures with the dogs, communicate with them and the owners of the kennel.

Fluffy northern dogs are extremely friendly, their hearts are full of trust in people and the joy of life. Come and take with you a piece of their strength, calmness and kindness!

Next, you will go to Priozersk, where you will have lunch and visit the Korela Fortress Museum.

The Korela Fortress of the XIV-XVIII centuries (Kexholm Fortress) is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance.

The ancient Russian wooden-earth fortress of the XIV-XVI centuries was built by the Novgorodians in 1310 on Castle Island.

Korela is known as the place of imprisonment of Yemelyan Pugachev's family, and in modern history this place can be seen in the opening shots of Alexey Balabanov's cult film "Brother" and in the clip of the band "Nautilus Pompilius".

In the evening, you will arrive at the marina in Sortavaly, from where you will take an airboat to the island located in the very center of the Ladoga skerries (20 minutes on the way).

Here you will find accommodation in a glamping and a welcome dinner with dishes of Karelian cuisine, as well as tasting of tinctures.

You will spend the night in cozy hemispherical tents surrounded by a pine forest.
