Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Petrozavodsk. Bus and walking tour. Interactive exhibition. Master class on cooking "gates"
We recommend taking tickets for trains arriving before 08:00.
Meeting at the railway station of Petrozavodsk. Boarding a comfortable bus.
Bus and walking tour of the capital of Karelia. Getting to know the history and architecture of the city.
You will visit the historic Round Square, Cathedral Square and the quiet Governor's Park with a unique industrial exposition. A walk along the Onega embankment.
The main promenade of the city is a real open—air museum of modern art. You will see original sculptures and art objects donated to Petrozavodsk by the twin cities.
Interactive exhibition on the Karelo-Finnish epic "Kalevala". Immersion in the cultural symbol of the region. You will take a walk through the interactive rune forest, inhale the aromas of the Karelian taiga, try to catch the legendary three-meter pike and learn the ancient legend of the creation of the world.
Lunch and a gastronomic master class on cooking "gates" (1.5 hours).
We get acquainted with the national cuisine. Under the guidance of an experienced craftsman, you will learn how to cook traditional Karelian gate pies with potato and lingonberry fillings with your own hands. The program will end with a warm tasting of our own pastries and aromatic tea made with local herbs.
Transfer to the hotel, check-in, free time to relax.

Day 2 - Ruskeala waterfalls. Ruskeala Mountain Park
07:00-08:30 Breakfast at the hotel.
08:45 Meeting with the guide. Departure for an excursion program to the south of Karelia (one—way travel time is about 3.5–4 hours).
The route takes place on a comfortable tourist-class bus equipped with air conditioning and adjustable seats.
A way stop in the Valley of Heroes. The guide will tell you about the fierce battles of the Soviet-Finnish Winter War of 1939-1940. Stop at the memorial "Cross of Sorrow" to honor the memory of fallen soldiers.
Stop at Ruskeala waterfalls (Akhinkoski). A tour of the picturesque stormy cascades on the Tohmajoki River, where the iconic scenes of the Soviet movie "And the dawns here are quiet ..." were filmed. PHOTOSESSION.
Optional (for an additional fee on site) — a walk along the ecological trail with suspension bridges directly over the waterfalls.
Arrival at Ruskeala Mountain Park. Land walking tour around the grand bowl of the flooded Marble quarry. The guide will tell the story of the extraction of Karelian marble, which was used for the cladding of St. Isaac's Cathedral and the palaces of St. Petersburg.
You will see a fantastic contrast of white-gray rocks, century-old fir trees and turquoise water.
Free time in the park.
The opportunity to walk along the trails and caves on your own, have lunch at local cafes (for an additional fee).
17:00-17:30 Pick up at the bus, departure back to Petrozavodsk.
Return to the city, free time for independent walks and dinner.

Day 3 - Mount Sampo. The resort "Marcial Waters". The ancient volcano Girvas. Kivach Nature Reserve and Waterfall

Room release (luggage is checked into the hotel's luggage room or they can be taken on the bus).
08:40 Meeting with the guide.
09:00 Departure for the excursion program.
Sampo Mountain tour. Climb to a panoramic forest elevation along an equipped trail. The observation deck offers a magnificent view of Lake Konchozero. We listen to the legends from the epic "Kalevala" and make a cherished wish at the magic tree.
Visit to the Marcial Waters balneological resort. The first Russian resort, founded by Peter the Great in 1719. We will visit the unique wooden church of the Peter the Great era, ancient pavilions and taste the healing ferruginous water from 4 natural underground wells.
A trip to the ancient volcano Girvas. A walk through a unique natural site — petrified lava flows, which are more than 2 billion years old. With the technological discharge of water at the local hydroelectric power station, it is possible to see a unique sight — the roaring Girvas waterfall.
Nature reserve and Kivach waterfall. Visit the second largest lowland waterfall in Europe. An inspection of the powerful 11-meter cascade from the viewing platforms. Guided tour of the Karelian birch arboretum and visit to the interactive Nature Museum.
17:00-17:30 Return to Petrozavodsk.
The end of the excursion program at the railway station.
