Day 1 - A tour of the capital of Karelia. Trip to Kizhi Island
We meet our dear guests at the Petrozavodsk railway station upon arrival of train No. 18 (~ 07:50), under the spire from the platform.
The guide greets you with a sign "Holy Triangle".
Tourists who arrived on earlier trains or on their own transport approach the meeting place.
If tourists arrive later (train No. 92), a meeting at the railway station and a free transfer will be arranged for them to meet the group on the route. In this case, tourists have breakfast on their own.

Petrozavodsk is the younger brother of St. Petersburg, born with him in the same year.
A promenade along the beautiful city embankment along Lake Onega, where there is a collection of original sculptures located in the open air.

A trip by Meteor along Lake Onega to Kizhi Island (1 hour and 30 minutes on the way).

Day 2 - Ruskeala Mountain Park. Valaam Island (optional)
Breakfast (dry rations).
Full-day excursion: Ruskeala Mountain Park + optional (for an additional fee) excursion to Valaam.
The duration is about 18 hours.
Early departure from Petrozavodsk.
The crossing is about 260 km.
Along the way there are picturesque Karelian landscapes, the surface of forest lakes and a magnificent panorama of Lake Ladoga framed by rocks. Travel information.
A tour of a unique natural object: the Ruskeala Mountain Park (duration 1 hour 15 minutes).
Marble was mined here in the 18th and 19th centuries to decorate palaces and temples of the Northern capital.
And now they admire the emerald waters of the man-made Marble Lake, visit the preserved grottoes and tunnels. There are no analogues either in Russia or in Europe!
Transfer to the city of Sortavala (30 km).
For an additional fee, the excursion "The Marvelous island of Valaam" (duration — 7 hours).

Nikolsky Skete is one of the most beautiful skeets of Valaam.
"New Jerusalem" — a visit to the Resurrection Hermitage, Gethsemane Hermitage, Mount of Olives and the Chapel of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Return to the city of Sortavala.
Guests who will not go to Valaam Island can:
stay in the Ruskeala Mountain Park after the end of the tour and come to Sortavala by taxi on your own (the cost of a taxi is approximately 1,500 rubles);
together with the group, come to Sortavala and in your free time walk around the city, visit the museum and cafe.

Day 3 - Kivach Waterfall and the Povenetskaya Staircase
Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure to the north of Karelia to the White Sea (distance about 400 km).
Visit to the branded liquor store of the Alkovorld distillery.
All products, including vodkas, bitter and sweet tinctures, gins, bitters and balms, contain only natural ingredients and are bottled in their own production, founded in 1879 in Petrozavodsk.
On the way, an excursion to the Kivach Nature Reserve, where you will admire the most famous waterfall in Karelia, sung in Russian poetry as the "northern hero".
Here you will also see the real Karelian birch – the famous "cinderella" of the northern forests, get acquainted with the collection of the arboretum and the Museum of Nature.
Lunch.
Transfer to the village of Povenets (22 km from Medvezhegorsk).
Excursion to the "Povenetsky staircase" of the locks of the White Sea-Baltic Canal.
It is here that the waterway begins, which connected Lake Onega and the White Sea.
You will learn about the history of the construction of the White Sea Canal in 1931-1933 - one of the most difficult and grandiose construction projects of the Soviet era.
In the evening, arrival at the tourist complex "Prichal" (located in the village of Rabochiostrovsk on the shore of the White Sea, 12 km from the city of Kem).

Day 4 - Tour of the Solovetsky Kremlin

Boat trip to Zayatsky Island (travel time 45 minutes). You will visit the largest pagan sanctuary of the II-I millennia BC, stone labyrinths, a complex of religious and burial structures, Russia's first stone harbor, monuments of the St. Andrew's Hermitage.

In your free time, we suggest you take a walk to the Cape of Labyrinths.
This is a picturesque natural area on the shore of the White Sea. There are reconstructed stone labyrinths and the famous Solovetsky "dancing" birches.

Day 5 - Excursions to choose from

1. Walking tour "The history of the Solovetsky special purpose camp. 1923-1939." (duration — 2.5 hours).
On this tour, visitors will learn about the Solovetsky Special Purpose camp, the stages of the camp's development and its reformation in 1937 into the Solovetsky Special Purpose Prison, as well as learn about the fate of prisoners.
They will visit a new exhibition about the camp and a monument to Solovetsky prisoners.
The cost is 700 rubles/person.
2. A boat trip along the Long Bay (duration — 4-5 hours).
An exciting ecological boat trip along the Long Bay – the "inner sea" of Solovki, where even in stormy weather there are rarely disturbances. A carbureted boat with a motor, driven by a fresh salty wind, will run past sandy beaches, countless islands and rocky ridges crashing into the water. On one of them there is a bird family, and on the other, it seems, a seal is basking in the sun.
Shallow depths allow you to see the underwater world: starfish are buried in the sandy bottom, translucent ultramarine jellyfish are floating in the water, algae are waving and stretching somewhere along with the sea currents. The price of the tour includes a bus transfer to Long Bay and back, as well as tasting of White Sea mussels – perhaps you are lucky enough to find a real White Sea pearl in one of them.

3. Boat trip to the island of Malaya Muksalma (duration — 3-3.5 hours).
The tour period is July – August, when active harvesting of algae begins in the village.
The boats will pass through difficult straits between the shoals to the island of Malaya Muksalma, the most inaccessible and little–visited island of the archipelago. Here is the site of the Arkhangelsk Algae Combine, the only enterprise in Russia that is engaged in the extraction and deep processing of Arctic algae, and the village of algae harvesters.
You will learn about the process of harvesting and drying kelp and get acquainted with the rich and colorful "deep life" on the White Sea. The remains of the Chapel of the Nativity of Christ, which is called Onufrievskaya, have been preserved in the village. Duration of one-way sea crossing: 35 minutes by speedboat. Required: comfortable shoes, jacket, raincoat, repellent, drinking water.

Comfortable sports shoes:
- sneakers or moccasins, but not new, but familiar and comfortable;
- replacement shoes (light sneakers or sneakers).

It is important to remember that the period from early May to mid-June is particularly dangerous due to the activity of encephalitic ticks. Prepare in advance for a trip to Karelia during this period – get a preventive vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis, take a special ointment with you, as well as clothes and hats that cover all parts of the body as much as possible.

The best protection against ticks is compliance with safety regulations:

It is not recommended to climb into the impenetrable thickets of low-growing shrubs unnecessarily.
Moving along the forest road, do not tear off branches.
The legs should be completely covered (shorts are not recommended).
Sweatpants, tights (preferably with a smooth surface) should be tucked into socks.
It is mandatory to have a headdress (cap, shawl).
It is advisable to hide long hair under a headdress.
After hiking in the forest, it is necessary to check (shake off) both outerwear and underwear.
Examine the whole body.
Be sure to comb your hair with a fine comb. If you find a crawling tick, it must be burned. Ticks are very tenacious, it is impossible to crush it.

If you find a tick that has already dug into your skin:

In no case do not pull it yourself, because you can tear the body away from the head (the head can exist without a body).
To remove the tick, it is necessary to pour it with camphor or vegetable oil, after 10-15 minutes carefully pull out the tick with tweezers.
Lubricate the bite site with green paint or iodine.

Vaccination provides the most effective protection. If the immunization schedule is followed, human diseases are extremely rare and usually occur in a mild form. The difficulty of vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis lies in the duration of the course of vaccinations, you can find out more in detail at the vaccination center in your region.

It should be remembered that all vaccinations must be completed 2 weeks before the start of the tick activity season, i.e. by the end of March.
