Rafting on the Upper Shuya River

To get by train to rafting on the Shuya River, you need to buy tickets to Petrozavodsk with arrival in the morning at 07:50 (train 018A Karelia). 

Return tickets should be taken from Petrozavodsk in the evening at 20:00-23:00 or overnight (trains 091A, departure: 21:00, 017A, departure: 22:00).

Mobile communication takes over well throughout the entire route. MegaFon and MTS are the best.

The weather on the Shuya River practically does not differ from the weather in St. Petersburg and Moscow. But it happens differently, in July and August, on average, the weather is dry and hot, with temperatures of +20-30 degrees. 

You need to be prepared for the fact that it may rain in Karelia for several days. In this case, the temperature drops to +10-15 degrees, and the water in the river also becomes cold.

Yes. There are not too many fish in the river, mainly pike and perch, caught with a float rod and spinning.

The water in the river is dark, if you scoop it up with a cup, it looks like weakly brewed tea, in fact, the water is clean, and the peat bogs surrounding the river give the brown color. We will use this water to prepare our entire trip.

The rafting route through south Shuya is great, we will pass through both upper Shuya and lower Shuya, which are separated by 2 large and very beautiful lakes: Shotozero and Vagatozero. We will see and pass the Kumio threshold, which is rightfully considered the most beautiful on the Shuya River.

The cloudberry season begins in late June and early July. Blueberries and mushrooms (podosinoviki, podberezoviki, white) begin in July. At the end of August, lingonberries begin to ripen.

After repacking things in the bag, some things may remain, including a backpack / bag. Everything superfluous can be left to the driver, the items will be delivered to the warehouse, after the rafting, the items will be delivered to the finish line.

If you arrive at the route by car in Petrozavodsk, you can park your car in the free parking lot at 15A Kommunalnaya Street. A minibus will also be waiting for us there, which will take you to the starting point of the route.

Attention! The number of free parking spaces is limited, please arrive in advance!

Meeting at 07:50 (Moscow time) at the Petrozavodsk railway station on platform No. 1 at the main building of the railway station, from the side of the platform, an instructor with a sign will be waiting for you.
