There are few museums and monuments on this tour, but there is the legendary Ruskeala Mountain Park and the Ruskeala Akhvenkoski waterfall, where a scene from the film "And the Dawns are Quiet here" was filmed, the first Russian resort "Marcial Waters", the ancient Girvas volcano and one of the largest flat waterfalls in Europe — Kivach.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Petrozavodsk. Akhvenkoski Waterfall and Ruskeala Mountain Park
Meeting in Petrozavodsk at the railway station at 07:50 at the 9th car of the train No. 018 Moscow-Petrozavodsk.
Breakfast in a cafe in the city.
Departure to the Ruskeala Mountain Park.
On the way, stop at the Ruskeala waterfall Ahvenkoski, translated from Finnish as "Perch threshold".
Locals sometimes call it the "waterfall at three bridges".
The bathing scene of one of the heroines of the film "And the dawns are quiet here" was filmed at this waterfall.
Amazingly picturesque nature invariably attracts the creators of modern films with its mysterious beauty and some mysterious power.
In 2010, a fantasy film "The Dark World" was shot here (entrance to the waterfall is paid independently on the spot – 300 rubles).
Excursion to the Ruskeala Mountain Park – "Marble Canyon", duration – 1 hour 15 minutes.
The park was established in 2005 on the basis of a unique monument of the industrial heritage of Russia, the Ruskeala marble quarry.
Marble mining was started here in 1769 by decree of Catherine II to decorate the famous buildings of St. Petersburg: the Marble Palace, St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Mariinsky Palace, etc.
Return to Petrozavodsk.

Another attraction of the Republic of Karelia that cannot be ignored is the ancient Girvas volcano.
If you are lucky enough to visit it at the moment when the floodgates of the dam are open, you can see with your own eyes a fascinating sight – a huge waterfall, much larger than Kivacha.
Actually, Girvas was a waterfall before the construction of the hydroelectric power station.
The stormy foaming stream rushing down from a great height will make an indelible impression on everyone who is lucky enough to see it with their own eyes.

Scientists are undoubtedly confident that this is the oldest surviving crater on earth.
According to some sources, it is 2 billion years old, according to others – at least 3 billion years old.
Visit Kivach Waterfall, one of the largest flat waterfalls in Europe.
You will also visit the Museum of Nature and the arboretum, the decoration and pride of which are the famous Karelian birches.
Lunch at the cafe.
A visit to the fish shop of a Karelian farmer who has been cultivating rainbow trout for more than 20 years, the fish has unique taste qualities, which is facilitated by the ecological purity of Karelian reservoirs.
Karelian fish and caviar will be the best gift from Karelia on the family table.
Transfer to Petrozavodsk railway station approximately by 17:00.
