Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Arrival in Petrozavodsk. The cross of sorrow. The Akhinkoski Waterfalls complex. Ruskeala Mountain Park

Welcome to Petrozavodsk, the capital of Karelia. The port of the five seas, located on the shores of Europe's second largest freshwater reservoir, Lake Onega.

    • 08:50 Meeting with the guide.
    • 09:00 Departure from Petrozavodsk.
    • 12:00 Stop at the Cross of Sorrow.
    • 12:50 Visit to the Akhinkoski Waterfalls complex.
    • 14:00 Ruskeala Marble Canyon Walking Tour (1 hour).
    • 15:00-17:00 Free time.
    • 17:30 Departure to Petrozavodsk.
    • 19:00 Technical stop.

We are leaving Petrozavodsk by a comfortable bus. The journey will take about 3.5–4 hours.

Our path passes through the Valley of Heroes. Fierce battles took place in these places during the Winter War of 1939-1940 between the USSR and Finland.

We will stop at the monument – the Cross of Sorrow, which is dedicated to these events.

The next stop is the waterfalls of Akhinkoski (Ruskealsky). Let's look at the place where the legendary Soviet film "And the dawns here are quiet ..." was shot, and take a photo.

For an additional fee (500 rubles for adults and 400 rubles for children), you can walk along the ecotrope with suspension bridges over waterfalls.

Upon arrival at the Ruskeala Mountain Park, we will have an excursion around the bowl of the marble canyon and a guide's story about the history of this unique place. Previously, marble was mined here, which was used for various purposes, including for decorating buildings and palaces in St. Petersburg. Then the quarry was flooded and turned into a beautiful location.

The walls of white-gray stone framed by tall fir trees contrast with the bright turquoise water. Gorgeous views, trails, caves, entertainment – there is everything for tourists here.

There are several cafes in the park where you can have lunch in your free time.

By 17:30 we will meet at the bus and head back to Petrozavodsk.

Advance booking of additional services in the mountain park is not possible! Tickets for the underground route. We cannot guarantee availability for additional excursions. The cost of services and excursions is available on the official website of the Ruskeala Mountain Park.

    Return to Petrozavodsk.

    Check-in at a city hotel.
