A cozy old town in Karelia, located on the shore of Ladoga, near the Finnish border. Beautiful architecture, picturesque surroundings, favorable climate.
The unusual architectural appearance of the city was formed under the influence of three states: Sweden, Finland and Russia, to which its territory belonged at different times.
Climbing Mount Paaso. This is the site of an ancient settlement.
The mountain offers stunning views of the surrounding area, a century-old forest, a winding highway and a picturesque lake, along which the famous Ruskeala Express retro train passes.
Excursion to the Siberian Husky kennel (25 km from Sortavala).
You will be introduced to the history of the Siberian Husky breed, riding and everyday life of the peoples of the north.
Now there are 40 dogs living in the kennel. These are Siberian huskies and riding mestizos, all of them work in a team. You will be able to chat and take pictures with the dogs!
In addition to dogs, reindeer, foxes, raccoons, pigs, crows, owls, squirrels and rabbits live in the kennel!
Dog sledding is available for an additional fee.

In your free time, you can visit the exhibition hall of Kronid Gogolev, the People's Artist of Russia. The master worked in a unique manner (wood carving), his works are known all over the world. The main themes in the work are devoted to the Russian North, its expressive nature, ordinary people, their way of life and holidays.
