Day 1 - Sightseeing tours of Kostroma, cheese museum and festive revelry
10:40 Meeting at the railway station from Lastochka.
Getting to know Kostroma.
The city's main square is the heart of Kostroma. Her calling card is the Susaninskaya Square, popularly called the "frying pan". Around the perimeter of the square are the most elegant and representative buildings of the late 19th century classicism era: the Borshchov house, the provincial offices, the guardhouse, the fire tower – the best fire tower in the Russian province is in the northern part of the square, and on the opposite side – on the site of the old auction – there are about 15 stone rows.
The largest are the Red Rows with the Church of the Savior built into them and the Large Flour Rows. And for the first time, a century later, the revived golden dome of the bell tower of the Assumption Cathedral of the former Kostroma Kremlin rises.

An extensive exposition on the world history of cheese making is presented in the ancient merchant's mansion of the end of the XVIII century (Reschikov house). Day 2 - Ipatievsky Monastery, Kostroma Sloboda and the museum of flax and birch bark

10:00 Departure to Ipatievsky Monastery.
There is a magnificent monastery not far from the confluence of the Kostroma River with the Volga. You'll probably see it even if you're a few kilometers away. Of course, Kostroma itself has changed a lot since the founding of the Holy Trinity Ipatievsky Monastery, but the idea of the architects who chose the place and architecture for it has been preserved.
The Holy Trinity Ipatievsky Monastery in Kostroma is considered the cradle of the Romanov dynasty. Important events for the whole country took place here in Troubled times. Over the years, the monastery was visited by Catherine II, Nicholas I, Alexander II, Nicholas II. The monastery is active. In addition, the monastery has opened the Trinity Cathedral with Lazarevsky Church in the basement, as well as the church in the name of the Holy Martyrs Chrysanthos and Daria. The Church Historical and Archaeological Museum has also been opened.

The architectural, ethnographic and Landscape Museum-Reserve outside the walls of the Ipatievsky Monastery is one of the most popular and vibrant places in the Golden Ring of Russia, an open-air museum of wooden architecture.
Kostroma Sloboda is a one–street village on the banks of the Igumenka River with peasant huts of various incomes, barns, stilt baths and churches of the early 18th century. It's a different world, a different time, a different life. The museum is unusual: it is home not only to authentic monuments, but also to the protected nature of the Kostroma region.
Everyone knows that they "meet by their clothes." In the old days, you could tell a lot about a person by their outfit: where they came from, what they did, and what their marital status was. The Sloboda hostess will treat the guests with tea and gingerbread and tell them how to distinguish a girl from a married woman by her clothes, where a man's shirt has a "background" and how to wear a "magpie". And he will also tell you what the word "unbinding" meant in the old days.
The program includes a sightseeing tour of Kostroma Sloboda.

15:00 Flax and Birch Bark Museum.
The museum tour begins with the flax hall, where, listening to the fascinating speech of the guide, visitors will see with their own eyes the process of turning linen straw into peasant shirts.
The spindle is spinning merrily, and the linen thread is pulled from the tow into the skilled hands of the craftswoman. The factory production of linen products is also not deprived of attention – the exhibits feature samples from the beginning of the last century, as well as modern ones.
The second hall is the birch bark hall. The characters of Russian fairy tales, made using birch bark weaving techniques, primarily attract the attention of visitors in the next hall of the museum.
The guide's story begins with a description of the traditions of making ancient birch bark products – pistons, shovels, pestles, baskets, collected in ethnographic expeditions in the Kostroma region.

Day 3 - Krasnoe-on-Volga and jewelry workshop

An excursion to Krasnoe on the Volga is a precious region, a real find for those who are interested in jewelry. Every second gold piece in the country and every fifth silver piece are made here. Visit to Krasnograd shopping center.
12:00 Visit to the country's only specialized museum of jewelry and folk art, a unique museum of its kind in Russia.
The village of Krasnoe-on-Volga is known for its traditional center of Russian jewelry art, which began to form in the 9th century. Traditions and secrets were passed down from generation to generation, and entire dynasties of craftsmen arose. In the early 19th and 20th centuries, the main products were inexpensive silver and copper jewelry, small silver tableware, stamped icons and crosses. It was opened in 1904.
The art and craft college of gold and silversmithing, which has become an important factor for the further development of the craft. In 1979, it was decided to establish the Krasnoselsky Museum, which has been a branch of the Kostroma State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve since 2005.
There are expositions here: "The history of the Krasnoselsky fishery: origins and traditions", "Krasnoselskaya scan", "In the robes of the image", "Golden Fund of the Motherland". The exhibitions present decorative and applied arts, paintings, graphics.
13:00 Interactive jewelry workshop. Feel like a jeweler!
The jewelry class includes two halls, one of which contains an exhibition about the origins and development of the jewelry industry. The first hall is also equipped with jewelry workbenches and hand tools for independent work on jewelry creation. In the second hall, modern equipment used in jewelry production is on display, and the process of creating jewelry from a sketch to a finished product is demonstrated.
As part of the master class, everyone can independently make a small souvenir framed from a scan using jewelry tools. The work can be done according to a ready-made template or according to your own composition.

16:00 Visit to the cheese exchange to buy goodies. Transfer to the railway station for the departure of Lastochka.
