We have breakfast at the hotel, check out with our belongings.
First of all, today we will move to Sumarokovo, where we will have an excursion to a unique Moose farm.
Sumarokovskaya Moose Farm is the only nature reserve in Russia where animals live in the wild, but at the same time they are completely comfortable next to people — they are friendly and very sociable!
Thanks to this tour, you will get to know these amazing animals and even be able to feed the little moose calves right from your hands.
Then we will return to Kostroma, where we will go to the cheese museum (check—in on January 5 - we will go to the cheese museum if possible: on this date we will visit a group tour of the Mayor's House).
In the museum, we will be told the legend of the invention of cheese, who brought cheese to Russia, how the famous artist Vereshchagin is connected with cheese, how many varieties of cheese exist, with what devices cheese is made, how to distinguish real cheese from fake and how to eat it correctly.
And, of course, a tasting of Kostroma cheeses awaits us!
We have lunch in a cafe in the city, after which you will have free time to walk around the city or you can choose additional excursions — upon request and availability at the time of booking (request the price):
- Visit to the Museum of Jewelry Art, the only private museum of its kind that reveals the history and secrets of the formation and development of jewelry in Kostroma.
In the museum we will see a recreated merchant's shop with an assortment of jewelry from the 2nd half of the XIX century and a workshop of a handicraft jeweler, where we will learn about the peculiarities of jewelry production in peasant families.
And you can also buy jewelry from the Kostroma Jewelry Factory in the museum shop.
- The Museum of Theatrical Costume — for example, they will tell us about how Ostrovsky's Snow Maiden was staged on the Kostroma stage. It is also possible to arrange an excursion to the Kostroma Theater.
- A visit to the Mayor's House is an interactive museum recreating the atmosphere and life of a wealthy urban family of the early 20th century. Romanov Museum, Noble Collection
- If you are traveling with children, we recommend visiting the Snow Maiden's Camp.
In the large clearing where the Snow Maiden's Camp is located, a cozy courtyard is laid out, unique art objects are placed: a giant 5-meter wooden spoon, a stool for reading poetry, a clock that counts down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the New Year, a collection of galoshes from local brownies, real bells that can be rung. The highlight here is the Ice Room!
It has -14 ℃ all year round. At the ice bar, children are treated to non-alcoholic cocktails "with the taste of ice and snowflakes", adults can pour something stronger. In the coldest room of the terem, the walls, furniture, dishes and sculptures are made of ice.
- The Museum of Flax and birch bark.
The museum introduces visitors to the ancient craft — the manufacture of linen and birch bark products.
The expositions are devoted to the traditions of growing and harvesting flax, the secrets of birch bark and linen production in the Kostroma region. A workshop has been opened at the museum, where various products are made of birch bark and flax. They can be purchased here at the gift shop.
At the railway station, we will take you to the Swallow with departure after 18:00.
