We have breakfast at the hotel, check out with our belongings.
First of all, today we will move to Sumarokovo, where we will have an excursion to a unique Moose farm.
The Sumarokovskaya Moose Farm is the only nature reserve in Russia where animals live in the wild, but at the same time they are completely comfortable around people — they are friendly and very sociable!
Thanks to this tour, you will get to know these amazing animals and even be able to feed small moose calves right from your hands.
Next, we will return to Kostroma, where we will go to the cheese museum (check—in on January 5 - we will visit the cheese museum if possible: on this date we will visit a group tour of the Mayor's House).
The museum will tell us the legend of the invention of cheese, who brought cheese to Russia, how the famous artist Vereshchagin is related to cheese, how many varieties of cheese exist, what devices make cheese, how to distinguish real cheese from fake and how to eat it properly.
And, of course, a tasting of Kostroma cheeses awaits us!
We will have lunch in a cafe in the city, after which you will have free time to walk around the city or you can choose additional excursions — if desired and availability at the time of booking (request the price):
- Visit the Museum of Jewelry Art, the only private museum of its kind that reveals the history and secrets of the formation and development of jewelry in Kostroma.
In the museum we will see a recreated merchant's shop with an assortment of jewelry from the 2nd half of the 19th century and a workshop of a handicraft jeweler, where we will learn about the peculiarities of jewelry production in peasant families.
You can also purchase jewelry from the Kostroma Jewelry Factory at the museum's store.
- The Museum of Theatrical Costume — for example, they will tell us about how Ostrovsky's Snow Maiden was staged on the Kostroma stage. It is also possible to arrange an excursion to the Kostroma Theater.
- Visit the Mayor's House, an interactive museum recreating the atmosphere and lifestyle of a wealthy urban family of the early 20th century. Romanov Museum, Noble Collection
- If you are traveling with children, we recommend visiting the Snow Maiden's Tower.
In the large clearing where the Snow Maiden's Camp is located, there is a cozy courtyard, unique art objects are placed: a giant 5-meter wooden spoon, a stool for reading poetry, a clock that counts down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the New Year, a collection of galoshes from local brownies, real bells that can be rung. The highlight here is the Ice Room!
It has -14 °C all year round. At the ice bar, children are treated to non-alcoholic cocktails "with the taste of ice and snowflakes", adults can pour something stronger. In the coldest room of the chamber, the walls, furniture, dishes and sculptures are made of ice.
- Museum of flax and birch bark.
The museum introduces visitors to the ancient craft of making linen and birch bark products.
The exhibitions are dedicated to the traditions of flax cultivation and harvesting, the secrets of birch bark and flax production in the Kostroma region. A workshop has been opened at the museum, where various products are made from birch bark and flax. They can be purchased here at the souvenir shop.
At the railway station, we will take you to the Swallow with departure after 18:00.
